Am i doing something Wrong?

Hello, First let me introduce my self my name is Will (not William ).

my question is am i doing something wrong? Why do i ask this? Well i have been exercising and dieting on low calorie diet. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks now with the right mind set. I know i can lose some pounds And, i Will. So i do about 1 hour exercise everyday most aerobics, But now the thing is i noticed that i felt weird i felt i was gaining weight instead of loosing weight. I stopped drinking Soda all i do is drink a lot of water now. so yea i been going at this for almost 1 month and i have been feeling i am gaining weight instead of loosing it.

(and by the i spend all day at college and come home about 3pm then exercise until 4pm then after that i sit on the comp xD so could this be what i do wrong? if it is can someone tell me some activities i can do after i finish exercise?)

Please post what you ate yesterday so we can evaluate what you're eating. Also you "feel" you're gaining weight, are you actually gaining weight? If so how much.

well will, you haven't provided enough information. you said:

well, you must be eating something as well.

what kinds of foods are you eating and how much/often?
do you estimate your calories you consume?
if you are gaining weight over a 3 month period, then you are simply consuming more calories than your body is burning. it's as simple as that. your weight will fluctuate from day to day as your body's water level changes from day to day.... but over a 3 month period, a trend should become visible.

have you weighed yourself? you said:
"so yea i been going at this for almost 1 month and i have been feeling i am gaining weight instead of loosing it."
but do you have actual weight numbers instead of just feelings?

wow thanks for the fast replies.

@Mikeb, Yesterday i ate a small bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. it had small amount of sugar, butter and some milk. then for dinner i ate Chinese food Steamed Chicken with Vegtables and small amount of brown rice ( no sauce ). then some fruits before bedtime thats what i had to eat yesterday.


@ccWilloe most i eat i watch the calorie value nothing exceeding 200 calories and if i do i try to burn it off right away when i get home. also i haven't really weight myself because my scale is broken i have to buy a new one or go some place. ill have a weight by tomorrow or maybe later on today. but last time i weight myself it was around 330 pounds.

Will you can't eat like that, it's not enough food. You also need to be eating a lot more protein as well. I would suggest eating at least 3 times a day with more protein at your meals, in the morning cook up 4-6 egg whites with 1 whole egg and a pinch of 2% fat free cheese as an omelet (cheese is optional) and leave off the sugar and butter on the oatmeal. Lunch would be a chicken breast or can of tuna or can of salmon and a salad and dinner maybe 4-6 oz red meat or any of the meats I listed for lunch and some green beans or peas. Pre-bed would be 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese.
Try that and see if it helps.

Chinese food is AWFUL for you! All I see are carbs and almost no protein. I bet you inadvertantly ate 50+ grams of sugar between the chinese food, fruit, milk and sugar from the oatmeal.

If you're drinking a lot of water, you could just feel bloated. I agree with Mike, your food habits need a lot of work. I doubt you didn't exceed 200 calories w/ the Chinese food you ate.

k k i will look into this stuff more and will stop eating Chinese food and kick my bad eating habits. one of the best way to go is low carb? hmm thanks again i appreciate all this if you have more info on any help just post here i appreciate everything.

is mashed potato good? no butter/ small portion of milk the 2% one with some tuna or salmon?

OK so skip mashed potato but you can eat yams/sweet potato instead
Skip the milk, too much sugar.
How about a salad with some meat or cottage cheese?

I just went food shopping here's a small list of things i bought.




bought some cereal raisen bran and honey oats with almond, 2 containers of the cottage cheese (non fat) , a container of pineapple slices, some fresh salad, 3 cans of tuna, 2 cans of salmon , plum, i dunno if its good or not but my other friend told me to get some eggs whites in a carton, and yams and 2% low fat milk althou i think i should of gone with the non fat milk but i dunno what do you think?


This is mostly breakfast things and snacks i still have to buy more things but this is what my money aloud me to buy. next week i will get the 100%whey Gold and join the gym, Al thou i am lifting weights and a friends house who knows how to.

We're making some progress here! Yes skim milk would have been better than 2%, maybe next time. Protein shakes are also great to have for breakfast. Low carb is a good idea in my book...keep the protein high, and fat/carbs low. But also important, keeping calories low too....you can eat healthy all you want, but if you're eating more calories than your burning, you're not going to lose weight

Good job but watch out for the following:
Don't eat cereal out of a box any more, just old fashioned Oatmeal out of the tall canister.
Don't buy pineapple slices, buy a pineapple
I wouldn't get egg whites as eggs are cheaper! I buy 2x5 dozen packs a week for my house and about 12 gallons of skim milk and I don't even drink any!!!


Your goal for today, go for a 1 hour walk!

aww dang i really thought those cereal were good *Sob* ok just stick to the oatmeal then... can i buy different flavored oatmeal or does it have to be the plain ol regular one?

ok i will just finish the rest of the white i have in the carton then i will start buying the packs of eggs instead. for the pineapple ill just give em to my sis. and yea def next time i will pick up the skim milk instead.

i will get ready for my walk in couple of min its pretty nice and hot outside

Do not... I repeat... do not buy flavoured oatmeal! If you realy can't force yourself to swallow plain oatmeal, add some cinnamon and a small cut up apple to the pot just after you add the oatmeal to the boiling water. I did that when I started completely cutting sugar out of my diet. Now I don't need the apple in it, but I still add some cinnamon.

Just make sure you don't add sugar! And don't buy the instant oatmeal packages. They're more expensive and have other crap in them that your body doesn't need.

Another way to eat the oatmeal is to put 1/2 a cup of dry oatmeal in a bowl and put in enough water to just cover the oatmeal. Then microwave that for 90 seconds, then put it in the fridge (optional). If you have a blender take 4-6 ice cubes, 2 cups of water the oatmeal and 1 tablespoon all natural peanut butter or almond butter and 1 scoop of the whey protein I had you buy and blender it up. HMMM oatmeal protein shake!

One more thing, don't feel bad about wanting to buy sugary foods, it's built into everyone now to eat crap. Fast food, sweets etc.
Do yourself a favor and start looking at ingredients on the packages. If you're buying something (like oatmeal) and the first ingredient isn't what you're after (should say oats first) then it's not something you should buy.

heh thanks for the replies its really helping a lot



i just finished my goal for today i started my walk at 12:45 Pm and came back home at 2:30 pm the sun out there was pretty hard + i had on a black shirt (only one clean sob) i also walked by the local gym and WOW the membership fee is so cheap 50$dollars a year is not bad at all. so yea i will be joining this gym by next week when i get money.

another thing.. i tried the cottage cheese for the first time yesterday and honestly i dint like it much its good at the beginning but then after a few chews it taste weird.

I can't eat cottage cheese (they haven't invented a dairy-free version yet) but my mom eats it all the time as part of her lunch and just mixes it with either berries (blueberries or strawberries when they're in season) or grapes. Might help with the 'weird' taste.

hey guys/gals hows it going


Today i Ate

9:00 Am : 6 egg whites with 1 whole egg
with a bowl of oatmeal and a spoon of peanut butter.

at 12:00 pm i ate a protein shake with half a cup of the cottage cheese that i dint really like much.

at about 12:44pm i started my walk for today came home about 2:00 it was nice out so i was just walking and forgot about the time hehe.

and at around 3-4:00pm i am going to eat some grilled chicken with a bowl of salad and yams

later on i dunno what im going to eat but when i do ill post it . so you can see how my eating has changed from when i first started

That's awesome! HUGE difference! One of the things I've learned over time is how to make the best of all the healthy food options out there. There are more than you think; I actually have a very wide variety of food I eat.
