| More money to fight obesity in New Zealand The New Zealand Government is giving $800,000 to four new national obesity fight projects.
The programs target Maori & Pacific Island families to improve their nutrition & increase their physical activity.
Health Minister Pete Hodgson cites poor nutrition & lack of exercise as the leading causes of premature death in New Zealand & finding ways to get families active & eating healthily is a major public health challenge.
The new projects will run in Wellington, Bay of Plenty, & South Auckland.
