| Re: What's your menu for today? That's a lot of fiber! Wow!
I don't have mine broken down completely, but so far......
Breakfast:
Low calorie protein shake (50g protein, 400 calories total)
Low fat string cheese (8g protein, 70 calories)
Snack:
Beef Jerky (20g protein, about 160 calories)
Haven't had lunch yet....but it'll be a grilled chicken breast wrap with a low net carb tortilla. Should be about 400 calories when all is said and done.

| Re: What's your menu for today? I've found that a high fiber diet is a great way to lower cholesterol, improve heart health, feel full, and bolster weight loss..... so most days I seem to get at least 70g of fiber. (Of course, eating 15 or so servings of veggies a day helps a lot!!)

| Re: What's your menu for today? Just my opinion but you're way low in protein and way high in carbs, I would flip flop those numbers and up your calories to around 2K
My food so far today:
Out of bed: 25g whey protein
Breakfast: 1.5 cup all natural oatmeal, 3tb almond butter, 50g whey vanilla protein powder (protein only), 26g casien choclate protein (3g carbs - no sugar), 4tb fiber mixed in cold water for breakfast shake.
Mid morning snack: 1 handful roasted but not salted almonds
Lunch: Ceasar salad w/ no dressing and 1 chicken breast
Mid afternoon snack: 1 handfull roasted but not salted almonds
I'll go home and drink 2x protein shakes for pre/post workout consisting of 75g protein and then dinner will be a protien and veggie. Pre-bed is another 26g of casein protein and ZMA.
Around 260g of protein and around 175g of carbs with less then 50g of fat for a total of close to 2200 calories.

| Re: What's your menu for today? Mike, I am a diabetic and need to have 55% carbs so I don't flop over into a diabetic coma from having too LOW of blood sugar. And if my protein percentages were any higher, I'd be risking damage to my kidneys.

It seems only people who already have a pre-existing kidney condition need to be concerned with eating too much protein. I've never seen a study that shows people with healthy kidneys having them damaged by eating too much protein.

| Re: What's your menu for today? Only kidney patients will have issues with too much protein, that is a wives tale, don't believe it. The best diet for Type II diabetics is Atkins which is all protein & fat and almost no carbs.

| Re: What's your menu for today? My endocrinologist and my primary care physician both told me to stay far away from Atkins. I've met with a registered dietician who has helped me figure out the fat-protein-carb ratios that work best for my medical conditions and situation.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to healthy eating.
Just sayin'

| Re: What's your menu for today? Today was a non-counting day for me ... a "free day". Breakfast was my normal ... 270 calories/40g fiber. Lunch was a lean steak sandwich (no mayo, no cheese), and 1/2 serving of fries.... yum. Dinner was Thai food, and I ate some popcorn at the movies.... woo hoo. (It's nice to do this once in a great while, ya know?)
