Weight Loss Support

Just curious how many people here are fortunate enough to have people outside the site for weight loss support whether it be family, friends, other groups, etc.?

Do you have people holding you down and making it harder for you to acheive your weight loss goals?

My fiance has been really supportive of me. He still maintains that I was never 'fat', but I think he likes the happier, healthier me.

I do feel bad though as his job has him quite active but he's eating all this healthy food with me, and as a result has lost about 30 lbs himself (he was never overweight, but now is quite lean). He can afford to eat some more junky stuff that he loves (ice cream, chips etc), but we can't keep them in the house since it's way harder for me to resist them if they're staring me in the face. :eek4:

Poor guy.

My husband tries to support me but gets frustrated with me too easily. My best friend is in bad a shape as I am. We are not good for each other. My kids encourage me but I'm not around them very much
My coworkers try.

I get most of my motivation and support on my own, but I get help from a couple members on here.

That OD was the first to get me going, but as this place has grown it's been nice to see others get involved and motivate each other. I've never seen such a friendly caring site even close to this.

Re: Weight Loss Support

I think it is really nice to have support from other people. People who say sometimes that they appreciate what you are doing, that they are proud of you and that they wish to be as strict as you are.
But it is also possible to lose weight without any or with less support. You decided to start losing weight for yourself, because you aren't satisfied with your body anymore and not for other people. And that should be enough motivation. I know that it's not easy all the time (that is why I have a photo of myself at the fridge), but you should never forget that you do it for yourself.

I thought when you originally started, you were both trying to loose some lbs. What happened to him? Did he reach his goal?

Re: Weight Loss Support

Yeah right!!! He fell off the band wagon about a month or more ago. He eats what I prepare for dinner and his lunches...but that is all. He is eating candy, shakes, cookies, milk and so on. He does not seem to care. I can not control him. So be it.....I am going to keep going with or without him.

My parents and family are incouraging...My best friend is a Nutritionist so that really really helps a lot. I think the best thing honestly (and this ssounds soo vain) is when you meet people you havent seen in a while and they tell you that you look great and can really tell you have lost weight!

It must be tough for you to continue with all that junk food around you. My will power for stuff like that is zero. I think I miss my old lifestyle a bit, but I wouldn't trade how I feel now for all the DQ Blizzards in the world!

LOLYeah it is tough sometimes....but surprisingly it is not that bad. I mean I will have an occassional craving and want something bad. But out of 4 bags of halloween candy I think I ate 1 mini bar. Yup just don't want it. I am not going backwards back to a horrible body.

That would be great to have a best-friend nutritionist! Getting compliments is always fun. Makes you feel like all your hard work is being acknowledged. Congrats on your current weightloss!

My gym is supposed to have nutritionists now, but my mother went to an appointment with one, and all they did was try to sell her their brand of vitamins. Nothing really about nutrition and healthy eating.

Re: Weight Loss Support

The only real support system I have had is here I am so glad I found this board. I joined a lot of others but never posted and then finally would just leave.

I go my motivation from the fact that if I didnt do something I would die before my youngest was grown and the fact I wanted to be around to know my grandchildren. It did finally change to where I am doing this for myself also.

And when that changed the big huge changes started happening. My journey started in 1999 with the gastric by pass. I went down and then right back up. Now I am the smallest I have been since my 1st child was born. And she turned 27 this yr.

It sucks when your significant other does not motivate you or back you up. My husband does not think I need to lose weight. He got upset last night when I said I have 10 more lbs to go.

My workout buddy is about your height (5'0) and is about 127 lbs, and whenever she mentions to her fiance that she'd like to loose another 20 lbs, he always says she'd be too skinny at that weight too.

What did your doctor say you should shoot for? (I remember you posting something about that in another thread)
