| Re: Your weight loss story. Please share!
I tried Dexatrim. It made me crazy. I tried to drink Slimfast but was hungry. I tried Atkins and it worked quickly but as soon as I ate even good carbs, the weight came on like a ton of bricks plus even more.
Last Spring I was tired, exhausted, worn out from being fat. I decided I really must do something. I stopped eating fast food and sweets and cut back on portions. I started going to sleep early. I began taking Alli. I lost 20 pounds ONLY doing this.
When the kids got back in school (August) I decided I would start walking. I started walking about two miles a day. I then started some jogging just a few feet at a time and increased my jogging as I could. I cut out red meat altogether and focus on mostly whole foods. I have some crutches--Starbucks sugar-free syrup in my coffee, fat-free Miracle Whip, nonfat butter spray. Nothing is off limits to me but I food journal and try to keep it at 1500 calories. Whole foods are much more filling to my stomach. I can eat a truck load of veggies and fruits for the amount of calories in junky stuff so I keep that in mind when I decide I am going to have something. Calorie cycling is especially effective. Recently I have added Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (DVD program available on FREE ON DEMAND) but just do it a couple of times a week.
I have always adored cooking. I'm a southern girl and love to feed the ones I love including myself! I have found new ways however to cook everything under the sun. I have also broadened my definition of food and am not afraid to new things. I believe in the power of whole grains, fiber and the good fats and eat them daily.
So, that's my method. I owe much of my success from reading about other's journies on the internet. I have support here to at this forum as well as others. I hope my story helps at least one other person.
ETA: Do not wait for the MOTIVATION to lose weight and get healthy. It only takes your decision to begin. Each day you are faced with a myriad of food choices. Just because you choose to make ONE less than optimal decision, doesn't negate all your efforts. If your good choices outweight the bad ones, you will still head in the right direction.
