So annoying!!

Since I'm a freshman, I am required to have a meal plan at the cafeteria at my school. The only problem is that they never make anything healthy!

Take tonight for example. I had taken a 1.5 mile walk this afternoon, eaten well all day and felt great. I had even planned put what I was going to have for dinner: an apple, some steamed veggies, and a big spinach salad with tons of veggies on top with chick peas and black beans for protein (luckily for me I don't like salad dressing).

But when I got there the apples were brown, the spinach was wilted, the salad bar veggies were hard and rubbery, and the steamed veggies had so much peeper on them that they were inedible.

UGH!

I was so frustrated, and ended up eating a gilled cheese sandwich and a slice of pizza for dinner. And now, only an hour afterwards, I'm hungry again because it was all made of simple carbs and cheese...

On nights like this I usually end up eating on of my healthy high fiber snacks in my room to make my stomach stop yelling at me.

I wish I could buy my own food, but I can't afford it, plus I already had to pay for the meal plan, so I feel like I should use it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I can't imagine that buying your own food at the grocery store would be that much more expense than eating at the cafeteria. I used to have a mini fridge in my dorm freshman year, and would keep it stocked with good food that I would eat in cases just like this. Is that possible?

Re: So annoying!!

Thanks for the tip! I have been keeping some healthy snacks in my room, but since the meal plan was mandatory, I was trying to use it as much as possible to save money. But luckily for me, I just got a part-time babysitting job, so now I'll have some extra cash to buy more healthy food
