| New Here-some questions :) Hi guys, I'm new here. I was wondering if you guys could tell me how many calories a day I should be consuming. I am 5'10" 193 pounds BMI of 27.7 according to an online calculator. My goal is to hit 180 then try for more after that. I have been walk/running about 2 miles at a time (today I ran a whole mile without stopping I'm so proud of myself) 2-3 times a week. This week I started strength training on Monday, hoping to do it MWF and possibly one day on the weekend. Yesterday I calculated my calories consumed and it came out to around 1400. Is this too small for me? My freshmen year in college instead of gaining the freshmen 15, I actually lost 20 pounds or so which was awesome but over the course of 4 years it has slowly crept back. Funny thing was I wasn't watching my calories then but I was riding my bike everywhere. I've also been riding my bike to work 30 min there and 30 min back when it's warm enough and not raining, but I was only able to do that once last week. I want to do it every day. Would this be too much exercise for me?

| Re: New Here-some questions :) Well, by the looks of things, you don't need any help! Exercise is never enough, but you do need at least 1 day a week to give your body a rest...
Keep up the good work!

Would this be too much exercise for me? | First I see you are looking to lose 13lbs in about 3 months, which is about 1lb a week.
Based on your activity level and stats, assuming you keep that up, I calculate you needing to eat 1850 calories a day on average to lose a lb. a week. If you drop that to 1575 calories a day on average you'll lose 1.5lbs a week, and 1350 calories will get you to lose about 2lbs a week.
Hope this helps!
