I lost 30 pounds in 4 months

I am not overweight anymore, but about a year ago I was semi big for my height and body frame. No one ever sat there and called me big or fat or anything but my doctor had warned me to loose a couple of pounds so it wouldnt be a health hazard. It came to the point where I was fitting into plus size clothing and it irratated me that I was getting so big, so I decided to get my butt in gear and do something about it. Back then I was 5'5 -150 pounds, most of you will say "thats not fat at all" but it was. I have a small body frame so the weight did show & I was extremely embarassed to ever wear anything showing my arms or anything the least revealing to my stomach. Being in my teens, it was hard for me because all my girlfriends went to the beach's showed themselves off in their itsy bitsy bikinni's where I wouldnt be caught dead with a one peice on. I always wore a t shirt and shorts when swimming. Now I am 21 years old, I am 5'5 still and weigh 116 pounds and I am happier than ever. Sometimes I get caught up in the moment wanting to loose a couple more pounds but I know I am healthy and I can fit into the clothes I always wanted to own.

This is me before the 30 pound weight loss @150 (im the one farthest to the right)

And this is me at my current weight 116.

Now many of you probally are bigger than I was at my highest weight and are probally thinking this girl is crazy but truth is now a days when you are in your teens it is hard to be socially accepted unless you are a perfect size 0 or 2. It is very saddening but true. So please dont belittle me saying I didnt need to loose the weight and so forth because I am more than happy that I did.

The way I lost 30 pounds-

I worked at a pharmacy so i spoke to my friend who was a pharmacist there and he was telling me about this new ALL NATURAL vitamin called "one a day weight smart" which aids in helping you speed your metabolisim while giving you your daily vitamin intake. It is only 8 dollars a bottle & you could find it any any pharmacy or grocery store. (walgreens, eckerds, cvs..etc.etc). I am not promoting the vitamin in any way but it defintly did assist me with the metabolism and energy aspect of it. Along with taking the "one a day vitamins" I started drinking at least 7-8 glasses of water a day, which believe it or not is an essential when trying to shed some pounds. I also felt hydrated all the time and my skin was becoming a heck of a lot more clear than it was before I drank water daily. I excercised about three times a week, not strenous exercise , just the basic walking fast paced for a mile, some belly crunches etc etc. I also ate so much healthier. I used to be a big junk food addict. I loved Micky D's and Wendys, but I had to let them go lol. Instead of indulging myself in greasy hamburgers I decided to try eating more veggies and fruits. I weighed my meat and cut down on the carbs a bit. I came to find fruits and veggies tasted a whole lot better to me than fast food and potato chips, plus they gave me tons more energy. Instead of parking close to a place, i parked further away...just a little bit more exercise can make a difference in your weight. I drank green tea a lot too which gave me more energy and helped my cravings for the regular snapple's I used to drink. The thing with loosing weight is I find it more productive to weigh yourself once a week instead of every day and keep track of the weight from there. If you weigh yourself every day you are basically giving yourself mixed signals.

Well i just wanted to let you know that loosing some weight is not easy whatsoever, but it can be done and without surgery. I hope all of you get to your dream weight and become satisified with yourselves.

Good luck All .

Great post and welcome to our community Angeleyez410! I, like you did not lose a substantial amount of weight, I was your height and over 170lbs.

I bet the biggest difference was your change in eating habits. That probably was the main cause of your increase in your energy level. :yup:

Just curious, did the pills you took have caffeine in it? I was thinking the caffeine from the pills (if there was some in it) plus the caffeine from the Green Tea might have also acted as an appetite suppressant. Drinking a lot of water is one of the most important parts of losing weight and so many people just don't realize it.

What's most important is that you're happy with yourself, which it seems you are, so your lifestyle change was definitely worth it!

You should be proud of yourself for having the will power and discipline to make so many drastic changes in your life. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Re: I lost 30 pounds in 4 months

Well the pills were ephedra free (never trusted that stuff anyways) and they did have EGCG in them which is green tea extract.

Also these ingredients

Calcium Carbonate , Cellulose , Magensium Oxide , Green Tea Extract , Ascorbic Acid , Ferrous Fumarate , Acacia , Dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate , Niacinamide , Croscarmellose Sodium , Zinc Oxide , Dextrin , D-Calcium Pantothenate , D-Calcium Phosphate , Caffeine Powder , Silicon Dioxide , Hypromellose , Magnesium Stearate , Titanium Dioxide , Gelatin , Corn Starch , Crospovidone , Glucose , Manganese Sulfate , Calcium Silicate , Cupric Sulfate , Polyethylene Glycol , Pyridoxine Hydrochloride , Riboflavin , Dextrose , Thiamine Mononitrate , Lecithin , Beta Carotene , Chromium Chloride , Resin , FD&C Blue No. 1 Lake , Folic Acid , Sodium Selenate , Phytonadione , Tricalcium Phosphate , Cholecalciferol , Cyanocobalamin

AND YES water played a huge role in it. I was such a fan of soda's and all that good stuff that I could hardly deal with the thought of drinking water a lot but I did it lol. Its great cause after you loose the weight, then you can feel relived and drink a soda or eat a burger here and there..just not in excess. I am planning on keeping my weight the way it is, but I think after working hard I deserve to eat a peice of cake sometimes.

You look stunning! Great job; all your hard work paid off! You are absolutely correct about how you look in your teens being important, especially when it comes to confidence. Younger women moreso than men are a bit self concious about their figures.

Did you notice you gained confidence and started posing in the mirror a bit more? I'm guilty of that too.

Just make sure you keep this up! The guys are probably banging down your door as we speak

We're so glad to have you here with us as a part of the community. People of all shapes and sizes are welcome, and positive success stories like yours are what helps motivate so many others. Hope to see you around!

Re: I lost 30 pounds in 4 months

Yes confidence is important no matter what age you are but I have come to find that when your a teen that is when you start finding yourself and what you like and dislike about yourself. Everyone around me had a great confidence & in some weird way I was extremely jealouse that these people could sit there and say "i am happy with myself & like the way I look" where as I would sit there and say "I hate the way I look and I wanna do better for myself". I guess it all has to do with if you have the determination and you wanna succeed. I know people bigger than I was and they've lost the weight and they also feel great about themselves.

Everyone should just remember regardless of your weight you are all beautiful.

Even though these teens may have appeared to have had confidence on the outside, I bet most of them lacked it in some way or another on the inside. I think teens are more likely to be dissatisfied with themselves compared to adults (although they may not show it). In the end though, it's what's on the inside that matters most. Those who have figured that out early on were ahead of the game.

Nicole, I doubt at that age that everyone was completely happy with themselves. I think everyone has a flaw that they hate or cannot stand. I do agree that in the teenage years, looks are as important as ever, and it is very difficult to go through those years if you aren't happy with how you look; this does frequently lead to a lack of confidence in yourself, which to me is a thing of beauty. I think confident people become more attractive to others.

We all have beauty in some way or another; we all should try to focus on the good things we have and not the bad things.....if there is something bad we don't like (excess weight for example), well I say get off your duff and do something about it! No reason to sit around sulking and feeling sorry for yourself.
