| Just wondering if I'm alone in this Hi there, I have a question. Just wondering if I am the only person who has this problem. I sometimes have a problem with constipation. I will (dead seriously) go up the scale as high as 6 lbs. and when I finally do go I will lose the entire 6 lbs. I know it gross, but I honestly wanted to know if anyone else here experiences anything like that?
Needless to say, you tend to not feel very good when this sort of problem arises.

What most people are finding after dropping a ton of weight on low carb is they've also reduced alot of muscle mass as well.
Just a heads up.

Mike | Interesting. I have done low carb before and did not seem to notice a loss of muscle mass before. I did some light walking in the morning and am not sure if that helped or not.

| Re: Just wondering if I'm alone in this Constipation will do that to you; the waste compacts and becomes very dense (heavy) when you're constipated. How much fluid are you drinking each day? The liquids soften your stool which in turn should lessen the constipation.

| Re: Just wondering if I'm alone in this Sorry I haven't written in a while, I went on vacation. As far as the low carb thing I will have to be on it for life due to a medical condition. Its not a no carb, I do eat carbs but only in moderation and only the healthy ones...no sugar. I have noticed that this problem arises when I eat too much sugarfree chocolate...I'm an addict when it comes to chocolate. So I guess I will just have to watch what I am doing from now on.
Thank you guys for all the support on this squeamish topic!!

Thank you guys for all the support on this squeamish topic!! | I was a chocoholic as a kid and love chocolate more than anything else in the world. My only tastes of chocolate these days come from sugar free 60 calorie Jello pudding, 40 calorie no-sugar added fudgesicles, and chocolate flavored coffee. It was so hard to make the transition, but I've been holding strong now for about 10 years now. I wonder if it's a type of sweetner that's giving you problems or the very high fat content that comes in a lot of sugar free chocolate bars?
No matter what the topic, we're here for each other through the thick and thin! (no pun intended )

I was told by my dietitian told me that this could be a problem and to add a stool softener to my shopping list! (even with drinking no less than 64 oz of fluids per day)

Take care of the problem before it occurs! 64oz is a bare minimum amount of fluids (water) to drink, I would step that up as much as possible!

| Re: Just wondering if I'm alone in this I agree with the water and the fiber. I work as an ER nurse and I have seen so many people come in over the years severely constipated and it can be so painful for people. I have also seen cases so severe that they required surgical intervention.
I think there are some fiber supplements you can try that are lower in carb. Also, try to increase your complex carbs as much as you can. Things like brown rice and certain kinds of beans are great for this. The more complex carbs require energy for your body to burn them off and don't cause the spike in blood sugar that simple carbs like sugar do.
Hope this helps.
