okay, so i'm 4'8'' and i weigh about 180 at the moment (its been jumping to 185, but i hope thats because im about to start my period). for the past few months i've been eating really good, fruits, vegetables, hardly any candies or chocolates (i did have a few the other day, but in moderation. not daily, maybe like once a month or something), i've stopped pop, coffee, energy drinks and switched to aquafina flavorsplash water (butm im weening myself onto regular water). so far just by changing my diet i lost about 7lbs. now i'm throwing in some exercise.
my pool isn't set up yet, but when it is i'll swim. for now, though, i've been walking about a mile every day (two, on some days) in about 25 minutes (not that impressive, but for someone as out of shape as me thats about as active as i can get at the moment until i build myself up). I'm not expecting to lose all this weight overnight, or see a dramatic change in my weight overnight, but I'm just wondering what is healthy to lose in 2 months? about how much cani expect to see?
i took my measurments, as my mother said i might just gain muscle and lose inches, so i'll check those every few weeks, too. but i'm just curious, i've noticed a change in my face, my cheeks are more defined. just wondering when i'll see it other places. thanks!!

Taking your measurements is a great start. As you begin to lose weight your body will take the fat from your extremities first, so you may not notice any loss from around your stomach. The best way to gauge the loss is through measurements. As for the types of exercise, swimming is one of the best, because it povides both cardio and it tones your muscles. However, I would also suggest adding some sort of strength training to your routine. This will help build muscle tone and as you build muscle tone, you will begin to burn more calories during your workout.
A healthy weight-loss would be between 1-2 pounds a week. However, this will vary from week to week. You've already lost 7 pounds, so you are on the right track. Keep up the great work and please keep me informed of how you are doing.

I wouldn't strive to lose more than 2lbs per week. That's the doctor recommended max. However, it does fluxuate a bit sometimes, especially at first if you lose a lot of water weight to start. Muscle does weigh more than fat, so if you are building muscle via exercise, it could counteract the fat loss in lbs when you step on the scale. The best way to keep track is through hydrostatic bodyfat testing, but you can also measure, use photos or the ol' mirror.

If you don't have any access to accurate means of regularly measuring body fat%, another good way to judge is by the fit of your clothes. Muscle takes up less space than fat, but weighs more, so you can be losing some fat while gaining muscle and the scale migh not necessarily show much of a change. The Zone diet website has a body fat calculator which has been tested against the Bod Pod (the Bod Pod is a highly accurate means for measuring body fat), and the results for the numerous individuals measured were basically identical to their results with the Bod Pod.

I run. Jogging helps clear the mind. It's just you, your ipod and the road!

Sound like your on the right track. I use my stepper for exercise. I think I'll start doing my measurement too.

in 2 months i would not want to lose more than 20lbs myself that is about 2lbs a week max which doctors recommend as the max to lose.
swimming is great exercise too! you will start to lose weight first in the places that you gain first most likely it is all genetic!

I just heard something on the TV news this morning about how it is genetic on where we carry our fat on our bodies. If our mother carried it in her middle stomach area then most likely we will carry it there.
If she carried it in her hips and legs then we would genetically carry it there.
My mom carried her weight in her stomach area and thats where mine is to.

You're doing well already but swimming might be good - it's low impact on joints etc so you may find that easier to do xxx
