| I was wondering Hi...
I am restarting....again...I feel really confident with what I am doing this time...My friend calls it the "Elbow Diet"(controlling portions) I eat almost every two hours and my calorie intake falls around 1300-1400 calories....I also have added calisthenics to my day...
I was wondering what everyone else was doing...What kind of "diet" you are on...and if you feel confident with it.
Thanks

| Re: I was wondering I don't consider myself on a diet - I just try and eat as healthily as possible and go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I also try to stay as active as possible. I make sure that even if I am sitting down I move my feet or wiggle my leg! People often ask how I have lost my weight and seem disappointed when I say by eating healthily and exercising, but it has stayed off for me and although it's much slower than I guess we would like it is so worth it!
Good luck on your journey xxx

Thanks | Planning, shopping, and recording what I eat in a spreadsheet, with a goal of 30% fat / 25% protein / 45% carbs. I usually eat between 1400 and 1800 calories a day. It works well and I feel confident. I call it "my program" and think of it as a discipline rather than a diet. It's a good thing, too, because I have a long way to go. I figure I'll have to do it for the rest of my life, unless I want to be over 300 lbs again - which I most definitely don't.

| Re: I was wondering Hi FINE, I've been doing the Zone for 13 years. During the first two years I lost 100 pounds and have kept it off ever since. It's a clinically proven diet and lifestyle that gets rid of the stored fat for good and lowers inflammation in the body. My whole family eats this way. We eat lean proteins, lots of veggies, fruit, and heart healthy monounsaturated fat. It's easy, satisfying, and you feel fantastic. We love it! |

| Re: I was wondering I think i'm staying away from calling it a diet and calling it a life change. Diets to me have an end, I'm changing my life from here on out and that will end someday but not until I die lol. I've just cut out all junk food, eat 3 meals a day, and don't eat anything after 8 PM. I cut out fast food, sweets, and turned to the 100 calorie packs to help with portion control. I also measure out things now instead of just piling it on.

I started out watching my carbs and still am to a extent but I am just eating healthy with lean meats, chicken, fish and alot of vegetables and fruits. I also watch my portion size to and try not to go over 1300 calories aday. I seldom eat sweets either and save them only for birthdays and special occassions. When I do eat sweets I limit myselfto a very small bit of it.
I have cut down on my diet soda and just drink them as a treat every now and then.
Now I do drink my coffe without sugar and with alittle skim milk in it.
I am just learning how to eat healthy.

| Re: I was wondering Congrats on you progressTrixStar!
I'm with you on the word "diet". In my mind diet simply means the food a person eats, whatever that food is. Interestingly, the original Greek (I think it's Greek) meaning for the word diet was actually one's lifestyle. Hopefully in the future the meaning of the word "diet" will come full circle and once again refer to lifestyle and not "weight loss".
A tip, be careful with those 100 calorie packs. Most of the foods packaged in that manner are not the foods that are conducive to maintaining a healthy body. |

| Re: I was wondering From my estimation, eating healthy, practicing portion control, and having a normal exercise routine may sound nice coming from your mom, but believe me when I say that it's one thing to say it and another thing to do it. I am in agreement with regulachick in that I will have to journal what I eat and what exercises I engage in for the rest of my life. It may evolve into a lifestyle change for anyone of us, but personally I must always think of it as a diet. It works for me because if I keep the mentality that I'm on a diet instead of incorporating it as a normal procedure in my daily life, then I am more apt to follow through with it rather than using excuses such as life-altering experiences or what not. I hope you find your own path and share it with us if it starts working for you. Good luck and I'm looking forward to what happens in your near future with regards to dieting.
