HUNGER!!!

grrrrr...

I am trying to fill my tummy with fruits and veggies but to be honest I can't afford it...my grocery bill already increased...I stopped buying chips, soda, and cookies and ice cream...and I buy more veggies and fruits and spend more....

I am going to put in a garden this year to grow some...but right now...I am going crazy....I am so hungrey and I eat about 1800 to 2000 calories a day...that is already more than I should....

I chew gum...I pace....I go for walks....and my stomach just growls and I feel like I did when quit smoking ....a constant mental battle to stay away from the refig.......

I try and watch that show....You Are What You Eat....and that inspires me and I look for success stories on the web also....

but...sigh...I just want food...

Re: HUNGER!!!

It's easy, find some whey or casein protein powder with minimal carbs & fat (less than 2g of each) and mix that in a blender with some cold water and ice along with 2 to 4 tb of fiber add in. I am FULL all the time and I've only been eating protein shakes, cottage cheese and some type of meat & veggies for the past few days. You're probably low on your protein intake anyhow so it won't hurt.

Re: HUNGER!!!

Hi Fine,
This is exactly what I was talking about in the other thread lets see if this helps. Buy some dried beans, navy or pinto work for me. Cook them as you normally would but season the 1lb pack with some [about 4 ] smoked turkey wings. First cook the wings in the oven at 350 for 1 hour or so and drain off the fat before you add them to the beans. Prepare a meal as you normally would eating your green salad first then have your beans in a small plate not a bowl. Try 2 wings and the amount of beans that would fill a small soup bowl in the plate. The small plate will make it look like you have a lot of food. The beans are very filling and will hold down your hunger.

Just for background you are having withdrawal, it's both physical and mental. Your body is a furnace, it is burning up the veggies quickly. You are also craving sugar you need something between meals try grapes or raisins and nuts for a quick boost. Have breakfast a snack, lunch a snack then dinner and a snack. Drink lots of water all through the day. BTW this happened to me and to everyone I know who decided to make the same sacrifice . Buy a couple of semi sweet chocolate bars and keep them handy, if worst comes to worst eat one. No diet is any good if you can't stick to it. Hang in there you can do it.

Jimmy

Re: HUNGER!!!

Hi Fine,
I use to suffer like you. I was hungry all the time and when I ate, I was even more hungry! Sound familiar? The hunger was so bad that I would pull up to the nearest fast food place and buy twice as much as what my eyes wanted because I didn't want to get home, eat and go back out again to get more food. I feel for anyone who is in the spot where I was. What I found out for me was I was not balancing my proteins and carbs. I have struggled with my weight for over 30 years. With the support of my health coach helping me create a food plan and learning how to eat right I have been able to loose 92 pounds and still loosing!! One of the key factors is eating small meals about every 3 hours. Drink lots of water, at least 64 oz a day or if you can half your body weight in oz. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Re: HUNGER!!!

Growing your own vegetables will definitely be good for the long term.
You don't need to starve yourself right now though, you'll end up with other problems.

Look into boiling meat recipes if meats all you can afford, but mikeB has given you very good advice.
