Your cousin has to help himself. Stop over or under eating and make healthier food choices and make the decision to be active. If he doesnt want to or isnt ready to make the changes there isnt anything you can do for him.

I agree with the above post... except for the under-eating part.

Getting yourself out of obesity takes a lot of effort. The drive and determination for that effort must come from within. Sure, there can be side sources of support and accountability but that will never be enough unless there is a foundation established first.

I agree with the others. Your cousin has to want it for himself. Until he asks for your help, the best you can do is to be supportive of the needs he expresses to you without enabling his obesity in any way.

Re: How to help him?????????

It hard to deal with obesity, I know my family tries to get me to walk. Maybe you and your cousin can go for a walk. How old is your cousin? People should not make fun of him. Maybe he should fine new friends.

Re: How to help him?????????

Could you be proactive and invite him to be your workout buddy at the gym, but not make it out like you're trying to solve his obesity issues?

Re: How to help him?????????

I agree with everyone in that he should be the very first one to act. You can talk to him about it but don't nag. people who have weight issues usually deny or are very sensitive about it.

Show him you are supportive and that you are just concerned for his health. If you really want to help him, sign him up here at the forum!
