What have you been doing as far as a lifestyle change to date?

I know how ya feel. My body just doesn't seem to want to leave the 'Big 2' (200 lbs). I've been there almost 2 months after making great progress the first 3 months. I really could'nt exercise anymore than I do now. I must admit I've been a little lax with the diet, but at least I'm not gaining. Makes me wonder if this where I should be.

Can you do anything to shake things up? (exercise change, eating at maintaining calories for a couple of day)
If not, just ride it out.

I h ave changed the exercise routine AGAIN (yesterday) to try and see if things will change Life style changes to date Started going for minimum 30 minutes walks for lunch Started Exercising more and I am running out of time in the day to fit anymore in Started eating MUCH more healthy food and less of it. But no matter how hard I try I cannot change the things I have previously discussed about my office and it gets more and more difficult every day to
come in here. This week is ok but next week who knows.

I wasn't keeping track of mine and I lost about 30 lbs, but when I got into the weight that I'd had forever, it got much harder to loose it, so I had to buy a little notebook and keep track of everything I ate, then bam, another 10 lbs gone.

Are you actually counting calories and eating towards a target daily caloric intake?

I try to stick to portion sizes however and daily servings of meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy, fat, etc. This seems to work for me, or at least it use to.

Portion sizes are not the most exact science. You may be surprised that you're eating more calories than you thought. Maybe not on a permanent basis, but maybe for a day or two track your calories and see how many calories you are really consuming, and it could be that your method isn't working as well as you hoped and you may need to tweak your eating habits a bit more.

Wishing you luck. It is hard to not get discouraged. I myself am falling down that slump.
I lost weight pretty quickly and well at first....now I have not lost anything as far as I can tell. And I have been working out everyday and watching my calorie intake.
Keep your head up.

Not because counting calories makes anyone gain weight it is because it frustrated the living daylights out of me and I get REALLY tired of trying to keep track of all this. Which ALWAYS leads me to saying the following to myself “I don’t have time for this (insert proper expletive here) I’m getting a muffin” And
Now for the last part --
Bottom-line, to loose weight takes one thing and only one thing “focus” without it you cannot follow any diet at all (period).
I have spent the last few days thinking about this and it comes down to I am not focusing… on anything…. other than my kids, these days. EVERYTHING can potentially set me off into a fit of anger lately. And that tells me I do not have any focus at all.
There is a lot more going on, other than job stress in my life, to cause this. Without going into great detail all I will say as that a couple people in my family have been diagnosed recently with some rather serious conditions that there is no cure for, it is just wait and watch things deteriorate. Also my wife and I recently helped bail out another family member that was spiraling into debt, to the tune of $50,000 thinking that it would help and all it appears to have done is give them extra money to create more debt and expect us to bail them out again, which will not happen, so this is causing a bit of a rift in the family. And then a close friend that is going through a divorce needed someone to talk to and chose me and now I have more intimate detail about their lives than anyone should have and I don’t need their problems on my shoulders.
I also know, although it is hard to admit, I really need to go talk to someone about all this before I have a stroke since every time I get angry the BP spikes.
With all that said I am going to cease posting for quite a while since all I can do it seems is complain, whine and be negative. None of which, believe it or not, is normal for me.
I will go back and continue what I started out doing but stopped doing a few weeks ago, Sanshou (Chinese martial art) and go talk to someone as well. And I just got another idea from my word spell checker that always wants me to correct Sanshou to snowshoe. I use to snowshoe too, I think when it snows I will go do that again. I am also considering snowboarding.
Thank you for all the support and advice but I got to go
Later all
Again thanks.

I look at it that by not spending the time now to do this calorie counting now, I'd just be costing myself time in the end in the form of a lower life expectancy. Counting calories doesn't take THAT long. Besides, once you do it for a while, you start to memorize the nutritional values of each slice of bread, each slice of cheese, etc. and it becomes easier and quicker to count. Quote:

You'll be setting a better example for your kids which can have a positive impact on their health, but more importantly, by losing the weight you'll more likely be able to live longer and be around for your kids longer in life and be able to spend more time with them, and even their grandkids. Again thanks. | I would absolutely go get back to Sanshou and talk to someone about things going on, and remember, we are all here for you too, and are more than willing to be a strong shoulder for you! You can talk to us about just about anything. Besides, we're cheaper than a trained professional! It's OK to vent here. That's why we're here, and we encourage people to do so. Don't lose touch with us, keep us posted, we're all going to support you until the end.

Dear JustMe,
My name is Dr. Lewis, author of "Why Weight Around? Changing the Weight Loss Strategy". If you truly (TRULY) want to lose weight, then it is actually quite easy. You can lose 15 pounds per week (without effort!) on my Five Bite Diet. Please visit my website by doing a Google search for Alwin C. Lewis, MD. (I can't post links here...yet.)
Good luck!

HI justme
I think I can help you out about the calorie counting.
There's a site that counts all your aclorie intake, fat, protein, etc. It even calculates your daily activity! All you have to do is write in all that you eat and the program does the rest.
Search google for FitDay. I can't post links (yet). I use it and it's helped me quite a lot! I actually have the whole program. Try it and then let me know what you think!
Keep your head up!!!
And talk to us all you like. We are all here to help.

| Re: getting discouraged Don’t know why but I feel I should wrap this one up. I will try and be brief and not go into the gory details. The Family issue has been resolved, basically live and let live. Sanshou stopped due to the teacher returning to China shortly after my last post in this thread Work stress reached a fever pitch and after a few bouts (3) of mild to sever chest pain blood pressure spiking, and a day I was certain I was going to have a stroke I went to a couple of MDs who pretty much said STRESS is the problem and it is at rather dangerous levels so cut it out. This lead to me making a career killing (yet likely life saving) move and I resigned from the Virus Admin position that was part of my job as well as the server admin part of 2 servers that were mine, they were 24/7 things and I had had enough of it. I lost no salary but chances are I am frozen as supervisor/second level help desk and lead help desk person which is a 40 hour a week job for as long as I am there. They can’t, at this point, afford to loose me or they have no more PC configuration, MS office support, laptop Admin, Mac support, lead hardware/software trouble shooting, software research person… but no one is irreplaceable so time will tell. But we are about 10 positions down and they have refused to hire anyone so it will be sometime before things change I think. Now on the up side I will likely live longer and I have done some major thinking and I am going to go back to school for an MS degree in a health related field and change jobs anyway in the fall. And if necessary drop Mac support and switch to an outside vendor… I am working on that already actually. Also I started Power Yoga and I started Wing Chun Kung Fu as well. Now if I can start getting more sleep, and I actually have the last 2 nights got a full 6.5 hours (that is about 1.5 to 2.5 hour greater than I have been getting the last few months), I will be back on track. And once the sleep thing adjusts, and it is, I will start working more on the morning workout routine. Still may go talk to professional counselor yet, but I am not certain of that at this point. But now in an effort to get the sleep thing back on track, I am signing off and going to bed. Night

Sounds like a lot of you guys are getting to that same point where nothing works for you anymore.
I know how it goes
I'm not sure if you guys are open to new ways to losing weight or not, but I am assuming you'd probably be at least interested lol.
I've been on this thing called the TSS for a bit now, been using it as a protein shake to build up muscles, but it doubles as a weight-loss shake as well. It comes with metabolism supplements that wake up your metabolism to work faster, and for people dieting it comes with this colorless and flavorless liquid you pour into your beverage of choice (I usually do it with diet coke) and it helps stops hunger pains as your body adjusts to the new schedule of your life.
Just a suggestion!
