After years of not understsanding why I was having a hard time losing weight, a doctor of mine FINALLY figured out my thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism). I think b/c I am young the doctors just didn't bother to test it. Anways, it causes weight gain and difficulty losing weight (as well as a lot of other symptoms, including depression). I have been on my med now for a month and can already tell a difference! Get it checked out!!!!

They've always told me that too. My mother is on medication for an inactive thyroid now.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly did they prescribe?

I just had mine checked and everything is on the up and up, but my doctor did tell me that very few people get theirs checked.
