| Compliments!
Just thought I would share something positive.
Yesterday, I met up with some friends that I had not seen for several weeks. Separately, they both commented on the fact that I looked like I had lost weight and was 'looking good.'
Well didnt that make MY day!!!
Also glad that I'm finally feeling confident enough to wear colors other than black haha.
Has anyone else had inspiring comments/responses from friends or relatives?

I am glad it made you feel good. It's nice that people acknowledge it in a way that's positive. It can become a compliment gone awry.
My grandmother who I had not seen for about 3 weeks said she could tell a difference. But no one else. And I don't feel it at all. In fact, right now, I feel so bloated from water, I imagine myself being Spongebob who just soaked up all of the Bikini Bottom lagoon!

Yes, it really is nice and does make your day when someone notices your hard work. I had it happen to me last week and even though I knew I was losing weight and working hard it was a nice feeling for someone to notice.
Fluffy- sometimes it takes longer......as it did with me (someone didn't notice till 29 lbs. gone....I was having a tough time seeing it myself). It is a good feeling when someone notices.....but I think its an even better feeling knowing you are doing this for you and for the long haul for better health.......seeing those days of being consistant add up to weeks, months, even years. You are doing fab. girl.....stay with it!!!

It is very motivating when people notice your progress!
I have had a couple of unusual compliments, but I think they mean well. One of my coworkers said "You are wasting away!"
Now, that doesn't sound very positive and at 5'4", nobody at my weight is wasting away!!
My other friend, not so good at compliments so when I get him to say something I know I am doing well, says to my husband and I - "You guys are deflating!"
I have also noticed that when you have some success, people get jealous. Instead of saying "good job", they say "I wish I could lose weight too, you are lucky" (and then they shovel more junk down their throat).
Lucky?! This is seriously hard work!!

I agree Chrissy - I didn't have anyone say anything to me at all until I was down 45 pounds. They will notice, the people that really care about you will notice the soonest.

My favorite compliments is when the scale says "YOU'RE A LOSER!!" That's the best!
It's my compliment to myself.

My mother and my boyfriend's mother both think I'm too thin. It's awesome. (I'm not too thin, not at all.)

Lucky?! This is seriously hard work!! | I TOTALLY agree! My fitter close friends give me positive feedback, but my rather large coworker constantly makes snide remarks and says I'm "lucky". HA. I am literally working this butt off! It ain't easy! I think she is just jealous that I'm leaving the realm of the large...

Those same people are super-snarky to me now. I ignore it, and so should you! It probably IS just a case of the green-eyed monster plus a reaction to your new confidence.
You've earned it. Let them hate.

The compliments are absolutely wonderful, I love getting them. It lets me know my hard work is paying off. I took my dogs to the vet and I hadn't seen one of the ladies that works there in about 5 months or maybe longer and she asked me how much more weight I wanted to loose and told me she thought I was getting too skinny so it was wonderful hearing that (even though I don't agree I'm where I should stop losing, but it was still nice). It's always great hearing others comments because I think sometimes it's hard to see in the mirror what others are seeing.

Congrats on getting compliments!
I agree though...people don't notice weight loss on someone else until it's significant. People you live with might not notice, because they see you everyday and the small changes just get overlooked.
People you don't see that often need to notice a larger change - I think it's about 20 lbs off a thinner person and 50 lbs off a larger person...then they'll notice! It's not personal - it's just not something we're geared to look out for. BUT - they will notice that you're looking 'better' - even if they don't know why exactly.

I have not had compliments in so long about anything that I am not sure I would take them very well. I am afraid I might say something snooty or "you're lying" or something like that. My parents know I am losing but I see them quite often so I don't expect them to "see" a dramatic difference.
On the other hand, I get them from my DH all the time but it's different. It's all good. I am just so glad I am doing this.

A genuine compliment is great! Even sometimes, if it's unintended...
But I don't like the lip-service compliments...the only good thing about them is that at least they're positive...even if they're not 'real'...
For example: Hubby always says 'good meal' even if we all know it was just okay...
At any rate - I lost a good 20 lbs before a few people noticed and said anything...so I know those changes are obvious...
