| Advice for my husband, please? Hello, everybody!
Could someone please talk some sense to my husband? We're arguing about how many calories per day he should consume. I say he needs at least 2,000 per day because he's such a big guy. Anything less for him would be dangerous. He thinks that's too high. He's trying to lose weight. He's 52, 6'3", approx 230lbs. He's trying to get down to 199lbs. The way he's so obsessed, he's going to end up with an eating disorder. Thanks for any advice. |

| Re: Advice for my husband, please? Well, based on his statistics, and assuming he doesn't exercise.....
His maintenance level is about 2500 calories per day.....so if he eats 2500 calories a day on average, he's not going to lose any weight.
If he wants to lose half a pound per week on average, he should be shooting for 2250 calories a day on average, and NO more.
If he wants to lose 1lb per week on average, he should be shooting for 2000 calories a day on average, and NO more.
If he wants to lose 1.5lbs a week on average, he should be shooting for 1750 calories a day on average.
If he wants to lose 2lbs a week on average, he should be shooting for 1500 calories a day on average.
Hope this helps!

| Re: Advice for my husband, please? My husband says I forgot to tell you that he exercises ALOT. We have a treadmill and a Bowflex, and he uses both about 3 days a week, and he also goes bike-riding alot.
So maybe I'm NOT wrong? |

So maybe I'm NOT wrong? | Actually, now it's even more in his favor.
If he's exercising too, he can actually afford to eat even more calories and still lose weight.
