I did it! I dropped 16lbs to 322.6 to put me into triple digits. I beat my 100lb goal a month early. I'm still hoping to be under 300lbs by October.
This month my calorie intake dropped to a daily average of 1340 from 1375 last month so its still leveling off. Like I said last month I don't think I can go on any less. I walked 77mi for July and should have done more but I've injured my ligaments in my right foot running from my ankle to my toes making walking difficult the last couple of days. I increased my swimming to help make up the difference swimming 9000yrds last month. My workout partner for weight trainning has proven to be unreliable and we only worked out once. He's a nice guy but he has alot going on plus a drinker. His wife told me not to count on him so that can't be good. My water arobics instuctor who works in the fitness center of the community center suggested I join them, its $55 for a year to access the weight room and cardio equipment.
I'm telling everyone I've lost over 100lbs in 7mo. its a great ice breaker and if I can help someone else get on track all the better. My family is very proud of me esspecially my mom. She has so many things to worry about that I don't want to be one of them. Were having a little get together tomorrow to celebrate my weight loss so I'll have to be careful or I'll be back under 100 Sunday, I wish my friends here could come and share in our fun.
Here's the difference 100lbs makes!

Congratulation on your loss! I have finally motivated myself to go on a diet. I am only a few weeks in but I have been doing pretty well. I am at a similar weight to when you started, so it is good to see that it is possible for someone who is where I am. Thanks for posting the pictures, it really made me feel better about this.

Originally Posted by taytay Applause, applause...looking good, yeah for you. Any special diet/exercise secrets? I'm justing starting out and need all the help I can get. | First is the right attitude. You can't go into this thinking its a diet, its a lifestyle change. Oh you'll lose weight on a diet but once you go off it and back to old habits you find yourself right back where you started plus a few pounds. Change the way you think about food. I was real bad. I would eat when I was happy, eat when I was sad and eat when I was bored. While eating I would be thinking about my next meal. Treat food as food, not as a emotional crutch, a friend or a reward but as fuel to go out and do things not just sit around.
Record everything you eat, a food journal or computer program will greatly help you. Find out where your calories are coming from and where to make cuts in your intake. Go buy a cheap kitchen scale and measuring cups Learn portion control, it amazing to see the difference a cup of food actually is. Start slowly and wean yourself off the junk, its hard to go cold turkey and the cravings hit at nite and late afternoon. After a few months they'll let up, find alternatives to your snack food. Instead of ice cream I eat Italian ice or instead of potato chips and dip I'll make pita chips with hummus. Just be smarter with your snacks, eat something with half the calories of what your used to and eventually you'll work your way to fresh fruit and veg.
Get up and move! I was the worst, I'd spend all day going from either the computer or TV and not get anything done. Wake up and give yourself purpose even if its cleaning the kitchen or washing clothes. I couldn't walk down my driveway to begin without becoming winded now 7mo later I walk 2mi every morning and do a hike every month. 2mo ago I started going to water exercise class, I'm the only guy in a class of old ladies but I still go because I need it. This month I've started weight training to help tighten up lose skin.
Finally don't let the numbers, self doubt or others get you down. If I let my self think about the fact I need to lose 200+lbs it becomes to much. Its too big of a number. Break it down, make small goals and soon the big number will be cut in half. Don't worry about what others think or say when you are joining a gym, pool or exercising. This is about you and you have to do it for yourself. Not your wife. Not your kids. Not your parents or doctor. I had to realize it for myself before I did anything about it. I'm not saying I didn't know I was fat, people told me, I can see myself in a mirror but when you finally have that moment of clarity that you know that death of your own making is hanging over you then you'll know you have the choice and power to change it. I was going to die, I was 40 and I would not see 50 the way I was going. The things I loved I had pushed away because I couldn't do them anymore. My health was in a downward spiral. I slept half of every night in my recliner due to headaches I got from lying in bed. I was existing not living anymore and I knew one day my wife would wake up and find me dead in that recliner. The hell with that. So I changed and I'm fighting everyday and I'll be fighting as long as I live, because I'll always have a weight problem just like an alcoholic will always have a drinking problem. I fight to get up and exercise, I fight not overeat, I fight others prejudices and the more I fight the stronger I become, so can you.

I have been reading this forum for a few months, and can't think of a better purpose for my first post to say "Great job" and keep up the good work.
Your story sounds really familiar, I decided when I turned 40 it was time to do something, and it's been just about a year and I'm almost there! I'm confident you will continue to see great results too, it sounds like you are doing everything the right way.
Very proud of you, and look forward to hearing about your continued success.
