| A new weight loss show in CA!
Hey everyone,
So i just saw an ad out for a show that is now casting for a weight loss program
here is their blurb: Being Overweight sucks You're not in High School anymore …Time to take control… We have heard your plea.. End the insecurity! you wont be picked last for this team.... You wont want or need to leave the lights off… The skinny Jeans will be SKINNY and you WILL be shirtless at the beach. The executive producer of "The Biggest Loser" brings you "Waistland" MTV has put together the ultimate BOD SQUAD to coach and inspire you into perfect shape. A televised 100 day 1 on 1 journey into the new you. Hope has arrived! 25/7 Productions and Doron Ofir Casting is currently seeking guys and girls who are at least 18 years old and appear under the age of 25 who are struggling to lose 40-80lbs. Lose Your Waist and find yourself. Send age, phone number and 2 recent photos to waistlandcast@gmail.com An MTV show that helps you lose the weight through NON-gym grinding activities? Ug, I can't take the local Bally's one more time. |

Interesting...I think it takes a very outgoing type of person to do something like this.

I think it is great what the contestants of these weight loss shows achieve during the shows, but I am not sure if they can keep up their healthy lifestyle aftewards.
These shows are inspiring to many, but in some way I think they don't portrait reality.

I agree Carolinem, if someone loses 80 pounds in 100 days, did they really have time to adjust? And suddenly all those coaches will be gone and they have to figure out how to maintain that loss on their own. I also think that requiring people to look "under 25" and send photos shows this is more about changing someone's looks for the big final show than about actually making them healthy. Change has to come from within to last in my opinion.

You said it! These types of shows are reminiscent of crash course diets in that there could be a likelihood of a big rebound....the pace they put you through is so hard to keep up long term, and you're right, you'd have to pay big bucks to have that kind of attention permanently.

True! If I had a fully equipped gym, a personal trainer and only healthy food at home (and ppl preventing me from buying sweets and other stuff like that) I'd soon look like a supermodel
Like monique said "Change has to come from within to last in my opinion."
With all the outside pressure people easily shed pounds, but the question is if they do it too afterwards without all the attention!

I think shows like this MTV one are misleading at best, exploitative at worst.

I totally agree, while I was reading the original post all I could think about is that show dance you ass off. They don't do a whole lot of "ass offing". It's just alot of over weight people flapping around making fools of themselves, while people at home laugh. It IS EXACTLY like highschool for most except there isn't anyone directly in your face, it's all behind your back laughing. I think that might actually be worse than someone in your face!!! Don't buy into the hype. The best way to lose weight is through diet and exercise, and no wonderful trainer is going to magically *POOF* the fat from your hind parts I would be weary of anyone who says otherwise. Trainers have their place, but they don't have magic beans that melt the calories off your "trouble areas", simply by being there. Seems like yet another attempt for a corporation to make money from the plight, and exploitation of someone that isn't them. All while managing to give someone false hopes, about their abysmal reality.

Interesting, but I don't think MTV wants a 30 something like me.
