| HELP NEEDED - TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY Maverick Television in the UK are currently working on a documentary for Channel Five. the film will explore the current obesity epidemic and we will travel the world to spend time with morbidly obese people from different countries in a bid to try to understand all the factors that led to their weight gain. We are currently looking for morbidly obese people who might be interested in taking part in the filming or to talk to us for our research. At this stage we are really keen to talk to as many people as possible and there is no need to commit to being in the film. I'd be really grateful if anyone who might be interested, could get in touch at the following address - t.pullen@mavericktv.co.uk Maverick Television is recognised as one of the leading factual television production companies in the UK. This is reflected by a strong portfolio of programmes ranging from long running primetime features series to award-winning single films and new media projects. We have a particular reputation for our sensitive and collaborative approach to documentaries. A good example is our work for the poignant 'One Life' series on BBCONE. 'Gail Porter Laid Bare' follows the popular television presenter as she comes to terms with living with Alopecia, a programme that struck a chord with both the industry and the viewing public. Our website (below) has the details of all our productions and awards since the company was founded in 1994. Many thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks, Tom Pullen Maverick Television. |

| Re: HELP NEEDED - TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY Hi Tom! I will go ahead and sticky this post to the top of the forum so more people can see it. Did you have a deadline in mind for when you were looking to do this? I will also move it to a forum that is specific to obesity related events and participation.

That's a really good question. At this stage we're keen to talk to anyone who is or has been morbidly obese, or even I suppose anyone who feels they might be heading that way.
Thanks

mommee45 | We can offer some suggestions on how to help curb your eating if you'd like. If you want you can start a new topic and we can walk you through some things!

mommee45 | Hi-Trust me when I say there is a way (low carb) unlike any other diet. In a matter of a few days you can convert your body from a sugar burning metabolism to a fat burning one. Once you do this, the overwhelming cravings are GONE! You are simply not as hungry. There are now MANY products that are delicious sugar substitutes (sucralose primarily) that can satisfy your sweet tooth. There are bread substitutes & low carb tortillas (you can still have cheese quesadillas, desserts, etc. Check out Netrition.com under low carb foods.
Forget pills, surgery, heavy exercise. You don't need it. You don't have to be hungry all the time. Just stop eating when you're full (before feeling stuffed) and the pounds will melt off! Take a daily multivitamin and some psyllium husks with your meals and you are on your way.
Well what are you waiting for Moms???

| Re: HELP NEEDED - TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY I might be able to help explain how people can gain so much weight. I went on my first diet when I was 120 lbs...at 50 years old. I lost , then gained back to 125..next diet same thing gained to 130 lbs. I was on my last diet in 2005 started at 145 lbs...lost to 125 lbs, now back up to 155 pounds. I am really scared to start another diet, but sure would like to get weight under control. Just don't know how to do this. I am now 68 years old...At only 5'0" tall, don't want to go to 200 pounds by dieting. PS At 50 years old, I weighed only 118 pounds, but needed to gain 2 pounds since I had to lose at least 10 pounds to join weight watchers with my friends. Before that, I had never been overweight. Now I can gain weight eating half what I ate before ever dieting.

| Re: HELP NEEDED - TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY Hi folks,
My name is Dick. I live in Sydney, Australia.
I had been in the same situation for more than 20 years - lost some weight and then put it all back and more until I weighed 220 lbs. Nothing worked for very long.
I have finally come to the conclusion, THAT DIETING DOES NOT WORK - not in the long run anyway.
I have now lost more than 25 lbs WITHOUT DIEITNG OR EXERCISE. How?
By changing the way I was eating. I then discovered something absolutely amazing: HOW OUR BODY ACTUALLY TELLS US, WHEN IT HAD ENOUGH FOOD.
Our body gives us a distinct signal when it had enough. At that signal our hunger is gone.
I have now learned to stop eating at that signal and suddenly started to lose weight - without dieiting. This weight loss proves to be also permanent. I simply stop eating, when my body tells me: "I have had enough!" It's that simple and it works just fine. Search on Google for "the signal to stop eating" for more information about why people are actually overweight and to read my full story. |
