Childhood obesity to be discussed March 20 in Café Scientifique
March 09, 2007 -- From MSU News Service BILLINGS -- Issues and health consequences of childhood obesity, as well as strategies for change, will be discussed Tuesday, March 20, when Montana State University at Bozeman brings its Café Scientifique series to Billings.
Karen Peterson, associate professor at the Harvard School of Public Health and expert in nutrition-related public health, will discuss "Tackling Child Obesity: What's the Worry? Whose Worry is it?" at 7 p.m. at the Billings Petroleum Club, 27 N. 27th Street. The event is free and open to the public.
The Café Scientifique series, co-sponsored by MSU's College of Letters and Science and Montana INBRE, provides a relaxed setting for people to learn about current scientific research. The concept started in England in 1998 and has spread to a handful of locations in the United States. Following a short presentation by a scientific expert, the majority of time is reserved for questions, answers and lively discussion.
