Re: Weight loss voyage
That's why we suggest to people who struggle with the ups and downs that weekly weighing may be the way to go.
Glad to hear things went well for you overall eating wise! Let us know how your whole foods excursion goes! I want to know what you think! All there locations are here:
Whole Foods Market | WholeFoodsMarket.com
Be prepared, they're a bit pricey.
Losing 1/4 of a pound while on a vacation is a huge win in my book. Great job!
Hope you feel better this week!

well, i woke up to a wonderful surprise on the scale this morning...255 pounds...which means i actually lost about 4 pounds this week. i am sure it has something to do with being sick for 2 days but for today i am going to relish it and hope that the next time i weigh in (which hopefully will be monday if i can manage to stay off the darn scale) it will be the same or even lower. so my focus for the week is getting in my strength workouts and eating my target calories. considering i did eat pizza on saturday and have been eating honey while sick to calm the cough, i am starting to think there may be something to this cheat day thing which tricks the body and makes you loose more...the problem for me is that i am afraid if i let myself slide even a little i will not get back on track...hopefully after all the honey yesterday and the pizza this weekend i will jump right back on the healthy diet train...speaking of which i better get some breakfast before it gets to late...i am off to the gym...hope everyone has a great day!!!

i am feeling better and so far the weight loss has held...i think i have bronchitis now but thats way better than throwing up and feeling nauseated
the closest whole foods store to me is 2 hours away...and unless i am passing through that area theres no way. i think there is a food coop near me and i may check that out. the closest thing i have been able to find grocery store hoping are the terra chips...made out of roots...beets, sweet potatoes, yucca, taro etc. thery are very tasty (very expensive) but i think a much better laternative to regular chips which i dont eat anymore. i would like to find something a little lower on the calories scale though...but nutritionally these are much better. dont know if i am going to incorporate a cheat day as of yet. i am sure that i as i move along i will allow myself more "cheats" where i can have a little treat every know and then but right now i am happy with the way things are going. i think the weight lifting is going to help out a lot to qith getting my BMR up. hope everyone is having a great week...off to teaching virginia's young academics!!

ugg...i am feeling unmotivated today...just want to sit around...i am sitting here watching tv and have decided i AM GOING TO WATCH TV FROM THE ELLIPTICAL MACHINE...as soon as i am done typing this. otherwise things are going well, i have been lifting weights 2-3 times a week, exercising just about every day and doing well with my diet. about 5 more pounds and i will be out of the 250 and into the 240's...YAY!!! hope everyone had a great weekend

2 hours? Really? There's like 10 of them in Virginia....didn't think VA was that big?

Weight lifting will be not just a help getting BMR up....so many benefits. I'd rather you do that than any other type of exercise.
So happy you're feeling better!
On a side note, some other good but high calorie foods are the myriad of flavored nuts (not sugar coated) on the market, and kale chips.
Also, you can order the Terra Chips on Amazon....tons of flavors. Might be cheaper...check it out.

Re: Weight loss voyage
Hi Hsmommyofmany,
How are you doing? A little trick for you. Think about how the end result would feel. When you feel discouraged you set of a stress hormone in your body, cortisol which has the opposite effect and triggers the body to store fat. To turn this around if you feel discouraged or stressed in any way do some deep breathing which will trigger the body's response to burn fat. This will change your mood when you realize you are burning fat by deep breathing.
Let me know how you get on.

Thanks, yes, that it is my new thing, to do the elliptical while i am watching my DVR at night of all the shows i missed while at work. even if its slow and leisurily its still better than sitting on the couch vegging
i have hit my first plateau i think so i have not lost any weight this week but my body tends to do that at about 15 pounds so hopefully i will start loosing it again. i have been really good about my weight traing which i much prefer over cardio
and i am now training for a 5K in april so hopefully that will get m eto keep up with the running which i hate but i want to at least be able to one 1 race in my life. hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Re: Weight loss voyage
Hi, Sounds like you are doing well. Have you done visioning those last pounds off. Visualizations is used by top athletes to achieve results and believe me this is fantastic. If you can see it in your mind, your body then follows. Another tip hide the scales for a month whilst you do this whilst keeping in your mind the end result, your desired weight and you will surprise yourself.
Well done, you are doing great.

Hi! I've just gotten caught up with your blog! You are doing really well! Congratulations!
LOL on tv with the elliptical. I have a music stand set up with my exercise bike. I put my kindle on it and will ride and play mahjong or read! And sometimes, I'll have the tv on as well. Nothing like being a mom to train you for multi-tasking!
Keep up the AWESOME weight loss! It's my choice. I can stuff my face with food or I can stuff my life with living.

thanks everyone for the encouragment
hollee, yes i can tell the inches are coming off, all my clothes (even my bras) are loose
i did not measure myself though i guess i need to do that
rue, the outdoors was awsome...its cold here again though so i haven't been out since...stuck back inside the gym
i am really starting to see myself getting back to being fit like i was when i was younger...i am finding myself not wanting to leave the gym...i just wish i had more time to workout...i am already starting to see my muscles in my arms again...and when you have this much fat over them...that is a feat
i am very excited that i am almost to my short term goal of 25 pounds...i am going to splurge and get my hair done when i get there... at 50 pounds i think i am going to buy myself a keyboard which i have been wanting for about 6 years now!

this week has been good, i logged over 25 miles on the bike and am running/walking on the treadmill training for m 5 K in april. I did a mile in under 17 minutes this week which is a huge accomplishment for me. i am also interested in trying to do a century bike ride, maybe next year when i get out of the 200s. i even went swimming for an hour with the kids yesterday at the gym. the weight training is going well, i can definitely tell i am getting some muscle mass back. lost another pound or so this week. i have lost enough weight now that i am actually going to have to buy some new pants and a new swim suit so that is great for me
i just finished an hour on my elliptical so i am beat! hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi Hsmommyofmany,
Glad to hear your scales are on the move. As long as you keep your target weight in sight you will achieve your goal.
