Mumamia hereIgoagain
I thought I would start a blog and try and post daily as I see that it could be a good tool in helping me on this hard but well worth journey.
As I have mentioned before I have many health issues and I know that most of them will become less of an issue once I am the slim me that my mind sees.
You will find that I may wriute too much. Talk about a sister too much. Actually I have four sisters so it wont always be the same one I talk about. I don't have any friends and haven't done in over ten years.
I lost my only child three years ago and I have been HAPPILY divorced for over twenty years.
I like to write poetry and prose even though AND you will notice I'm a SHITE speller.
So far I like what I have read on this site and already I have learnt a few new things. Already I find people seem very honest and I like that a lot.Last edited by hollee; 05-09-11 at 03:24 AM. Reason: Add more

Blogs are for writing...so write away! I find it very helpful to log in daily, and then see how everyone else is doing.
I'm also interested to see how your health improves as the weight drops. Mine is definately better, but of course, some issues aren't weight dependent, so those remain. But it's so much nicer when there's less of 'em in total!
Sorry about the loss of your child. That must be very hard to live with. *hugz*
p.s. I like your blog title...cute!Last edited by Rue; 05-09-11 at 10:13 AM.

True, blogging everyday helps a lot, it's like a confession and helps focusing and getting back on track.
Welcome and feel free to write about anything, this is your space and we will only try to help

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
Thanks for you comments.
As for my health issues, I have Asthma, type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, Arthritis, Social Phobia, Anxieties and I'm climbing my way out of depression. Most of these can be helped quiet a lot from losing weight.
My major illnesses is my heart, had a operation on it as a child all was good till I stacked on the weight. Finally the biggest issue at the moment my lungs, they can improve with weight loss to. I am on oxygen 24/7 at the moment although once before I got of the oxygen so that is my first target. I am almost a hermit, I have been out of my house 3 times this year so far, twice to doctors appointments and once to a youngest sisters place.Last edited by hollee; 05-10-11 at 05:00 AM.

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
I was wondering whether it matters how often you weigh yourself. My weigh day is tomorrow but in the previous weeks not this passed week I been checking on Sundays to see how I am doing.
I know my doctor says chuck out the scales and go by clothes alone. Clothes sizes vary so much from store to store. LIKE I have new clothes anyway.Last edited by hollee; 05-10-11 at 05:01 AM.

i try to weigh in always with the same shorts, nothing on top, once a week... I can't handle weighing in everyday... it's too much for me, I get too crazy

How often you weigh yourself is up to you.
A lot of people truly obcess about the number. If you're prone to obcessing, maybe going by how your clothes feel is a good approach. However, clothes are sized too, so when you go to buy new clothes you still have a number to deal with (but it's not as often or as many).
Most recommend weekly weigh-ins.
A few of us prefer daily weigh-ins. Myself included. I want to, if possible, catch a weight increase before the week is up. I also look forward to my morning weigh-ins...lol...hope springs eternal.

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
I would jump for joy if I could

Reasons why
A) It's my fourth week on my life change journey and the only naughty thing I had was a 600ml ice-coffee drink.
B) I lost 2.6lbs this week.........YAY ME
C) I won a writing contest on a site I am on. The results mean nothing outside the site but still it is hard to win. This was my third win in a year.
I'm a happy little vegemite today.Last edited by hollee; 05-11-11 at 05:34 AM. Reason: typos

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate them.
I think I have New Site Syndrome, I just looked at the time on my computer and I have been on this site for over four hours.
Good things about this are, I'm loving all the new things I am learning from others.
I have learnt to now look at dates as I was leaving my thoughts on some things that haven't been added to in years, still I liked reading all and will continue to do so.
Bad about being on so long is that I've sat so long on computer, thankfully I did two lots of my exercise in the morning.
Back to the good, I sipped water while on here and stopped long enought to cook a diced pork stirfry for my evening meal.
I have decided after today that my first goal has changed, I had been thinking to get 99k would be my mini target. Now I feel I should have a mini mini goal and that should be like so many others have mentioned on here 10%. Great idea people THANKS.
I keep thinking in kilos, sorry bout that.

It's good to get excited about something new! I'm the type that likes to research and read up on something new too...so it keeps live interesting for me!
BTW...ignore all this if you like...but I've been thinking about you and a dog. I'm a dog fan. I have 3, two larger breeds (100 lbs and 70 lbs) and a mini-Dachshund (9 lbs). I train and have shown dogs, have taught basic obedience too.
I realize you can't get up and walk a dog for a long distance at the moment, but if you like dogs you can think about this. If you don't like dogs, then just just ignore.
1. There are many adult dogs needing good homes. At the shelter many are already housebroken or just need a minor tune-up, so you wouldn't have to go through the pain of puppyhood (which may be too demanding at the moment).
2. Small dogs can get all the exercise they need running around an apartment. That takes the pressure of HAVING to walk them off, but dogs just love walks regardless. Even our country dogs (who run lose in the yard [with supervision], go ecstatic when they see us pull the leashes out.
2. A short-haired small dog, like mine, or a short-haired chihauahau, need very little grooming. A bath 2-3 X a year (easy to do, even in the sink) and some damp toweling will keep them nice and clean.
3. You do need enough money for vet care, but the rest of the costs for small dog are negligable - all you need is a collar and a leash. Everything else you need you can appropriate from household supplies.
4. An older dog from the SPCA will likely come neutered already, or the cost will be included in the adoption fee.
5. Even if the dog messes in the house, or you need to use newspapers, little dogs are very easy to clean up after.
6. You do have to look after it though, even if it's easy...BUT a dog will keep you on scheduale and hopefully motivate you to get up and to get moving. If I'm working from home and am alone for a few days (when hubby is away for work and the kids are all off on something or other) I HAVE to get up to let them out in the morning, I have to take them out, and I have to stay up to let them out before bedtime. It keeps ME on a healthy scheduale as well.
Cats are much easier to look after...except for hauling heavy bags of kitty litter...but aren't the motivator to get up and moving like dogs are.The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
Rue I can't have a dog where I live and I am not suppose to have a cat but my cat was my sons and I just couldn't give him away after my son died. The cat has no choice but to live outside for I am allergic to him but I feed him talk to him and as he was wild when my son took a liking to him, he seems happy enough.
I had a beautiful dog when my son was young, her name was Missy and she was a ridge back cross with God only knows. hehehe.....
I learnt that you can over boil eggs and the taste is not the greatest. I never actually timed how long they were on but wasn't much longer than normal but boy NOT doing that again.
05-13-11, 10:49 AM #15Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
Sorry about the eggs! I like mine soft-boiled...the kids prefer theirs hard-boiled. Since we have chickens I actually do hard-boil 12-16 in advance and keep them for the week to snack on or to grab and put in lunches...
I'm lucky I have no cat allergies. I do have very mild dog allergies though. No dogs in the bed or up on the furniture! And I could never be a dog groomer...thankfully that's not high up on my list of 'things to do'...

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
Rue I been boiling a dozen eggs at a time. Would be nice to have fresh eggs like you Rue. We use to have our own chooks when I was groing up.
Well I've been bad, had hot chips/no salt, as I have mention before I don't add salt to anything or cook with it.
Had chips friday night and payed for them saturday. I felt horrible all day, didn't even come on here. Could have been part of one of my other illnesses but I blame the chips and wont be touching them again in a hurry.Last edited by hollee; 05-15-11 at 12:53 AM. Reason: adding.

Sorry that you're feeling off. But I suppose if it helps put you off the chips, it's good in the long run!
Nice to know you also boil eggs in advance. We used to do that when I was young, but no one I know does it anymore. The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.

Re: Mumamia hereIgoagain
I managed to do some walking with my zimmer frame yesterday, though it was not much it was more than I have done since I tried losing weight last October. So better than none.

Excellent! It might not seem like much to you, but if it's the most you've been able to do since October that's awesome! Don't minimize how important that is or the progress it shows!

True, give yourself credit. With time you will be able to get back on track really quick, in my opinion is the only way to loose weight. Concentrate, do some exercise. Commit yourself to at least writing anything in your blog once a day just to always remember that you really have to do this.
