I find some moleskin product from Dr. Scholl's doing a search - is that what works for you?

Now I'm not sure what I have is actually a bunion... from the descriptions I just read. Maybe it's more of a corn or callous but it seemed far more "severe" than I had thought either of those were so I assumed bunion. But it is on the outside of my foot, not within it on the bone which appears to be the main characteristic of an actual bunion.

But the moleskin still seems like the way to go.

Yeah, it's the moleskin from Dr Scholl's it's available at any drugstore around here.

The trick is to cut a hole in the middle so it's not touching your bunion/corn and the stuff on the outside will just act as a barrier so nothing touches it. Well that's the technique with blisters I'm not 100% sure you'd do it the same way with bunions but probably as long as the bunion isn't thicker than the moleskin.

If it's thicker you probably just put it on like a bandaid.

Was not a happy dream at all. Woke up crying and have been in a funk since I woke up. It's weird how things you dream can sometimes affect your whole day. At least it does with me. My husband is at the mall spending some time with his girls before he has to take them back to their mom. My teens have been smarting off and arguing all day so far. Ugh! I just really really want to go to the gym, but I am waiting until Gregg gets back for the girls stuff and heads out so I can tell them bye and give them hugs and kisses. I hope I'll be in a better mood after working out. It usually helps. I hate being grumpy Momma. I tend to make everyone miserable when I am and then I feel guilty and that makes me feel worse. It's a bad bad bad bad bad cycle to get into. But I'm working on getting out of it and I am going to go to the gym no matter what. Tomorrow is weigh in day so today's workout is my "LAST CHANCE WORKOUT"!!!! Gotta burn off as much as I can today so I can lost just that much more. I'm nervous about weighing in though. I don't feel like I've lost anything. And I know I've hit my goals plus some with calorie burn and calorie intake. There have been days that I ate more than I thought I should, but then those are the days that I worked out for 2-4 hours. And I probably needed the extra calories. So I have got to stop stressing myself out over this. I have to remember it's about getting healthier not just thinner. It's about feeling better not just looking better. And I am feeling better. I'm tired all the time right now but that's from working out so much. And I'm sore all the time but that's also from all the working out. So no more stressing. It isn't healthy.

Well Gregg and the girls just came and left so now I'm off to the gym!
Sorry to hear about the funk; and hopefully you got a good workout in to get all of it out of your system; let us know about the weigh in!

You're doing a great job staying focused; keep it up!

You have insurance? May be worth seeing a podiatrist if you're not sure what's going on.

    Re: Getting healthy 2012

Well I've been missing off of here for almost a week. Just haven't had the time to get on the computer as much. Plus haven't felt well. I was sick Friday and spent the whole day in bed, which was a huge mistake. We have a really soft bed and my back always hurts if I spend to much time laying in it. So Sat and Sunday I could barely walk without pain. Just standing to make my breakfast was painful yesterday. I still have some lower back pain today but I made it to the gym anyways. And I weighed today. I'm down to 220. That's 2 more down. I've lost 6.8 lbs so far this year. Not quite where I wanted to be but it's still progress. Now time to go to the grocery store. I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines and is having a terrific day.

Losing the weight slowly isn't a bad thing...as long as it's consistant...

    Re: Getting healthy 2012

Thanks everyone. I know slower is better, but the weeks when you don't lose or you only lose half a pound are frustrating. I try to keep positive about it. (At least I didn't gain) But sometimes it is hard. There are days when the family just abolutely does not want to eat healthy so we end up with two meals cooked, I only cook the healthy one though. Last night I went to the gym and they went and got some BBQ chicken from the deli at the local walmart. I'm so glad they did it while I was gone. And it was gone before I got home. I had two Boca burgers on Orowheat rolls with some ultra thin slices of swiss and cheddar cheese. Was a yummy dinner, but if I had been home when they ate the chicken I probably would have had some.

I am feeling much better today. The back is still achy but I think that is the normal for me. Our bed is way to soft for me. And it isn't as soft as the bed we had before. We got a new matress, but had to comprimise since hubby likes soft beds and I like firm ones. I think it's still to soft for me. I think we need a number bed. But that will have to wait a while. So other than the back aches my problem is chafing under my breasts. It happens every time I run or do long walks. I have some body glide but it is only helping a little. I'm thinking I may have to spend some money on even better sports bras. The ones I have are a few months old and I think are not supporting me as well now. As it is I spend $30-40 on each of the 5-6 that I have. I think I may need to spend more to get some that will last me longer or something. And I need to find some that don't have sems. But I think the bras may have to wait too. Money is tight right now. Gregg may be making more an hour but he's getting less hours than he was before. So he's actually making less money now.

Ok well I need to go find out what time Cuppy and I are going to meet and where we are going to meet to walk. I hope you are all having a great day!

    Re: Getting healthy 2012

Well Cuppy and I never did get to meet up and walk together. But I did get to the gym yesterday and today. And Yesterday after the gym I stopped at a local park and Wogged 1.25 miles. I did the mile in 14:32. I walked .25 then jogged .25. I'm not much of a runner but I'm working on it. Today before I went to the gym I stopped at the same park and did 2.25 miles and I did the 2 miles in just over 28 minutes. I did .25 mile intervals today too. I plan on going to a park tomorrow and doing 3 miles. I think I'll go to a different park tomorrow though . I get bored on the one miles tracks when I do more than a mile or two. Today my bodybugg says I've burned about 3200 calories and I've only eaten 1429 calories. I'm sitting here trying to decide if I'm still hungry or just thirsty or if it's just my mind playing tricks on me. Or it could even be my acid reflux making me feel hungry. I don't know but it is frustrating. I'll probably just drink some more water and go to bed. I am pretty sleepy. I spent most of the morning driving my son around, he's 18 and has no car or job. But I took him to get a new state ID since he lost his other one and then took him around to fill out and turn in job applications. I hope he gets one soon. Him sitting around the house doing not much of anything is getting really annoying. I love him but I miss my quiet house. He's been home since Dec 17. Before that he was at a military style school for 6 months and before that he was in public school. So I had the house to myself during the day since my daughter goes to school. I miss my me time. Ok now that I've rambled back and forth and all over the place with all these different things. I am going to go to bed. Night all

That's a lot of exercise! Good for you! I hope you can find that ideal balance (for day-day) between exercise and diet!

    Re: Getting healthy 2012

I usually end up working out alone. Cuppy has a lot going on right now between school, taking care of her mom, her boyfriend and sick relatives. Plus she lives about 30 minutes away. I miss working out with her and spending time with her but I understand she has responsibilities.

I get to workout so much because I don't work. I babysit Penny but right now my son isn't working or going to school or pretty much anything else so when I want to go to the gym I have him watch her and I head out. Other than going to the grocery store the gym is the only time I get out of the house. And these days I need to workout for more than just fitness. I need to get out some frustrations and stress that being the mom to teenagers cause.

I think today I'm not going to go to the gym but I do plan on getting to the park and doing at least 3 miles. I think getting outside in the sun will be super nice!

I agree about being the mom to teenagers...I have 3 'kids', 22, 19 and 16. The 22 year old is finally starting to be more of a grown-up than a teenager...but is not quite totally adult yet...lol...

My 16-year old has 2 part-time jobs (he's managing his schoolwork, so I'm letting him work)...my 'big' event of the day is meeting up with him between those two jobs to buy him jeans and get him a haircut...lol. He still needs his mom...and/or her wallet...

My kids are 18 and 16. Neither have jobs. But Andrew has been told he will look and keep looking until he gets one because he isn't going to get a free ride the rest of his life. All he wants to do is sit around and play video games.

It doesn't have to be a great job. Mine is working at a concession booth at the events arena, and then as a prep cook. He gets paid to scrub carrots and cut up celery...

I told him any job will work. I just think he needs something and he needs to earn for himself instead of having things handed to him.

I'm sorry about the chafing - that is difficult to deal with, I know. Can you lose your bra while you are home, lube yourself up really good, and give the girls a vacation while you heal? There is nothing worse than a bra that doesn't fit.

GREAT job on the exercise! Have you started noticing any changes in your body yet? Exercise becomes even more addicting when you do!

    Teenagers . . . sigh . . . I have one . . . she's a great kid . . . but she's still difficult sometimes . . . sigh . . . We should create a "Rant about your teenagers here" Thread!

Keep it up! You are doing really, really well!
