You're so right about doing a food diary, Matt. I'd done that before I saw the dietician last and she has this cool program on her 'puter that measures if you're getting sufficient of everything. Hence the pickup on the need for more calcium. There were a couple of others that looked a bit dodgy - potassium and zinc but we figured that would be covered by the multivitamin I take each day. There really are some clever people out there to work all this stuff out.
Well there you go, that could have easily been the issue. Glad you caught it sooner than later!

There are a number of free food loggers you can try if you don't have access to the one from the doctor.

How have your past few days been?

Not much to report this week folks but the progress is still in the right direction. Lost 400gms or about one pound. It would be good to update profile with bmi plus one decimal point. I like the look of my bmi chart

Awesome on the progress!!!! That's fantastic! How's the logging been going for you? Maybe that full sugar cordial was the issue after all.

Woohoo - one whole kilogram (2.2046lbs)! Succeeding has to be the best motivation I know. Been working from home the last week and been flat-out busy. Time is flying past, doing heaps more hours than I would if I was at my workplace and seem to forget about eating. Will have to be careful to ensure I have the correct nutrition!

Yes yes yes!!! Good for you! We're proud of you!

Time flying is a good thing. Less time to eat.

Be sure to make sure you're getting enough, drinking tons of water, and getting good quality food along with a lot of protein. How are you doing on that front? Have you looked into any food logging?

Such wonderful, kind comments. Thank you everyone. Only 200gms this week (hardly worth mentioning really) but at least it was a loss. Let's hope it really means a big loss next time I weigh! Have to go away for work next weekend so will be a fortnight till I get back here. I haven't gone back to food logging just yet but I see my dietition on Wednesday so will see what she recommends. I am mindful to ensure my nutrition is balanced even if my overall intake is small. Stay positive people. It can only help.

Sorry, sorry, sorry. Had the weekend away with work and then the next weekend was crazy catching up on things around the house and didn't get to report in. Anyhoo, it's all good! I've lost 1.6kg over the three weeks and I reckon that rocks! My work uniform has gone from being too small to being too big. Will have to take the trousers to a tailor soon I think. Won't see me crying over money spent to take clothes in though - I can't wipe the smile off my face! These days I stand in front of the mirror and do a little dance - thank the good Lord there's no cameras in my room - you'd all be rofl! BMI is in the healthy range for the first time in I don't know how many years. Life is good!
Miranda, hollee and cookie6815 thank this.

How wonderful you must feel about your BMI that's one of my aims even though I am a long way off for that, but it will happen.

Just another 200gms this week but that seems to be the pattern of late - a good week and a week that doesn't quite meet my expectations (I'm not going to be the one to call it a bad week when the scales are still heading in the right direction)!

Having a weekend away with friends next week so catch you all in a fortnight. Hooroo!

There are many people who have weight loss surgery and do not lose the weight. What people don't seem to understand is you STILL have to exercise and eat better. The only thing the surgery does is alleviate the constant hunger that many overweight people experience. I know people who have had the surgery and it's still very difficult. The surgery is just a tool, and for many people a necessary one. Congrats on your success!

I have a confession to make. Last weekend I didn't report in because I'd put on 400gms and why had I put on 400gms? Probably for the same reason some of you had a rough week too - the temptation of Hot Cross Buns with butter melting all over them along with Marshmellow Easter Eggs was too great! So then I got a big dose of the 'stuff-its' and added some ice cream to the decadence. Why does my head tell me 'well you've blown it now - might as well make a really good job of it?' So there you have it.

This week, no ice cream or Easter buns or eggs and low and behold, I've lost 1.2kg. Huge relief that I managed to get back on track. It's scary that my eating could blow so out of control after five months of mostly being good. Like Rue said early on, I think the keeping it off is going to be a challenge. I really hope I'm up to it.

    Catch you next week.

You're very close to your goal!

Yes, the maintaining is just as hard...and not as obviously rewarding as losing the weight...so you still put in all the effort, but have 'nothing' to show for it...if you know what I mean...
