| Newbie...need help.... Hi! I'm a newbie on here.....but my story is a lot like most of yours....My name is Amber and Im 20 years old. I was never really skinny in all of my life except for maybe when i was really young. I was never really what I would consider fat until now. But I was always bigger than I wanted to be. After I graduated high school I gained even more weight. I weighed about 150lbs the day I graduated, but by the time I finished my first year in college I had reached about 170 lbs. After my first year, I decided I didnt really want to go to college right then, so I didn't go back. That was in May 2006. Since then, I have just continually gained...and now I am at 205 lbs...I never thought I would see the day that I would reach 200. but now, none of my clothes fit...even the ones I was wearing 2 months ago. I hate to go shopping because nothing fits me....I hate going out to dinner because I feel like people are looking at me and thinking horrible things about me in their heads. I feel completly unattractive and disgusting...which is causing problems in my relationship. When I get out of the shower or am getting dressed, I make sure I'm no where near a mirror....I just cant bear to look at myself without getting depressed about it. I look at my old pictures and wish I looked like taht again....I want to lose it and get back to where I was, but I just dont knwo how to go about it. I have tried diets...and I just cant stick to them. I looked online about trying Jenny Craig or something that you just buy all their meals..but thats so expensive...its almost $400 for a month and I just dont have that. I live on my own and theres no way I can afford that. I dont know what to eat thats healthy or anything. I'm on a tight budget so its hard for me to get a gym membership. I just dont know what to do or where to turn i ahve got to lose this, someway somehow. And Im willing to do what it takes. I just need some help in ideas and how to go about it. If any of you can help by giving me ideas on how you did it....please let me know...ThankS

| Re: Newbie...need help.... Gym memberships arent needed to shed some pounds. Now when I was on a tight budget I found that dieting was actually a money saver to be honest. I was buying a lot less fast foods or going out to eat as much. Right now I eat 4 roughly small but decent meals a day. I think right now I spend like lets see I bought two packages of lean chicken breast 12-14 dollars for the week, 3 bags of frozen brocoli 8-10 dollars, 2 bags of frozen okra 2-5 dollars, bag of apples for snacks 4.50, box of mini wheats for breakfast 4.25, and 2-3 bucs for a big bag of brown rice which might last me two weeks(I work at a grocery store by the way if your wondering how I know prices and no there is no tax on food in most states unless its heated or chilled), tap water-free(beside your water bill if you have one), Now even totaling this for a month at its maximum price I pay 160 dollars around, and thats even on the high end from what it is actually seeing as I dont think I even buy as much as I listed(more like 120 a month and thats cheap for a months worth of food trust me). Now I understand you probably dont want to eat the same things as I do but you can kinda do the same thing with your own preferences of healthy food choices without some expensive meal plan. Find what vegetables you enjoy and what fruits you can snack on for starters(bananas are usually pretty cheap) Now for the exercise part you dont have to buy any gym membership to get some exercise. Go for a walk, a jog, a swim at a public pool if you dont live in a apartment or have access to a pool(I know its scary when your overweight, trust me I know just call me always wear a shirt to the pool james), turn on some of your favorite tunes and dance like a wild person for 30-50 minutes if that gets your heart rate going, whatever works. I honestly got more results from doing my cardio at home than at the gym, I mean it was nice to have certain machines every once in awhile but not necessary. I mean you just have to try what works for your body, I found though that eating healthy food 4 times a day, not eating late, doing some exercise what ever it may be to get my heart pumping for over 20 minutes would make me lose weight in the pounds a week consistently as long as I didnt break down and eat a carton of ice cream(which ive done before). Also after reading your post again I want you to quit worrying about others opinions and worry about your own opinions, and appreciate yourself. Good Luck.

If any of you can help by giving me ideas on how you did it....please let me know...ThankS | You don't need a gym membership, or diets to lose weight. The best way to lose weight through eating changes is by counting your calories and creating a calorie deficit.....and the best part is that there's no charge .gif) Exercise is free, you can start off by taking walks, upping it to a light job, buying some cheap dumbbells for home exercise use, etc.
The most effective thing you can do at this point is create a calorie deficit by eating less food than your body uses in a given day. We can help you figure out how much to eat and what to eat, we just need to know a few stats about you.
Age, height, weight, sex, and how often you exercise in a given week and for how long you do it and what intensity.

What are some good things to eat for lunch and dinner? Im having a hard time figuring out what exactly is good for me to eat. I normally eat a lot of fast things, things from a box or frozen....quick meals.

| Re: Newbie...need help.... You would be surprised and how many things you have at home to help with excercise. The great thing about excercising at home is that your not self conscious about being watched and you can workout at you own pace. Even 10 mins a day make a difference. I used to have all the same excuses as everyone else; don't have time, don't have money, don't feel like it, etc... but I have made a choice to change my lifestyle and amazingly it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. It was pretty tough at first, but now it has become second nature. My best friend my George Foreman Grill! It is great for chicken, fish, steak, vegetables, etc...
Good Luck!
