| Newbie here Hi everyone. Well, it's that time of year (again) and I've decided to really get serious this time. No more half-assed attempts at losing this weight. I have a full year ahead of me, with two weddings to attend, and a couple of vacations, so now's the time to kick things into high-gear and make this time a success.
I've read lots of helpful tips as well as support and encouragement on this site, so I look forward to having an online support group to help me along. I look forward to chatting with everyone.

I plan to do it the old-fashioned way..... diet & exercise. I am still mentally preparing myself, as I fear I could be quite grumpy the next six months!!  Truthfully, I know that after the first few weeks of eating healthier and working out, I will feel so much better and more energetic.

what changes will you make to the ol' diet?

| Re: Newbie here Well, to start with, no more soda. Switching to primarily water, and some nonfat milk. I'll be eliminating fast food and severely limiting any eating out. Breakfast will be a fruit smoothy. Lunch will be a healthy sandwich. Dinner will be fish or chicken with lots of veggies. Snacks will be fruits, nuts, and the like.
I managed to stick to this diet for 6 weeks last summer and I had good results. The hard part is to permanently change those eating habits.

| Re: Newbie here Looks like you've got a great plan for your weight loss. You won't be grumpy at all when you see the pounds shedding off!
Make sure you find healthy foods you love to eat and incorporate those as well. I found a whole bunch of things that are good for me that I never knew I loved.
What kind of exercise are you thinking of?

| Re: Newbie here Well, I have a dog, so I think I will step it up a notch with walking. Instead of just our usual casual strolls, I'll be walking at a much quicker pace and for longer periods of time (she'll think this is fantastic!!). I think I'm going to just start with this for a while, as I don't want to make too many changes all at once. I know that I won't stick to it if I try to do it all at once.
Once some pounds start coming off, then I'll see about adding in some additional workouts besides just walking.
