| Newbie here. Hey, I'm new here. I stumbled across this board searching for a weight loss support site, and I think I'm really going to like it here.
I am 21 years old. I've been overweight for most of my life and have attempted to lose weight quite a few times, only to gain whatever I lost + some back. As of today, I have about 150 pounds to lose (yikes...) and it feels so overwhelming to even imagine losing so much. It almost seems impossible.
I can't wait to post with you guys. |

I can't wait to post with you guys. | Welcome!! 150lbs? No sweat! Well maybe a little.
It's easier to shoot for 10lbs at a time instead of trying to tackle all 150 at once in your mind. Weight loss is a lot easier than most people think, and we've gotten a lot of people into a healthier lifestyle that has helped them drop the weight.
Have you figured out how you would like to approach losing weight? Exercise? Eating changes? Both? Any timeframe you'd like to lose weight by?

I'm going to try just counting calories - between 1,200-1,600 calories a day. I'm also going to do Walk Away The Pounds dvd's, since I have quite a collection. My timeframe... I'd like to be close to my goal by my 23rd birthday (February 6th of 2009), if not already there.
When I was 14/15, I lost 50 pounds in 4-5 months, so I know I can do this. I just need to find that drive again that I had before. Then, it was I was close to 200 pounds and didn't want to reach that... now, I'm close to 300... and it's the same thing. I can't reach that, that number terrifies me. |

That means you're going to need to, on average each day consume 1125 calories less than your body is burning. If you want I can help you narrow down exactly how many calories you want to average eating per day over the long run to achieve your goals. If you do in fact exercise as much as you say you will, then the calories you listed above will get you pretty close to your goals.

This is a great place to find ideas, support and motivation!
Whenever I hit a snag in my weightloss I always seem to find some little tip on here to help me past it, or an awesome success story to re-motivate me. Sounds like you're off to a great start with counting calories.
I've seen those Walk-Away-The-Lbs DVD's, they look like fun! Just make sure you switch it up every now and then so you keep your body going!
