Red face NEWBIE Here

Hi all. I am new here and just started a physician/nutritionist supervised diet called a Protein-Sparing Modified Fast. I am a type 2 diabetic and have been unable to lose despite exercising and doing all the right things. I am happy to say that this diet is doing the job. I went to the nutritionist on 8/7/07 and started the diet the next day. At the doctor's office I weighed in at 274.9 and this morning my scales said 258. WOW!!!
I just wondered if there is anyone else out there on this diet and would love to know their experience with it.

I know a few people on these diet and they have to be monitored very closely. This seems to be working grat for you!

Are you just doing this diet or are you exercising in conjunction with it?

I am exercising about 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week on my elliptical. It seems to be working well.

You have your own elliptical machine? I am sooooo jealous.

I've always wanted one but they're sooo pricey.

How is your heart rate while you're doing it? Does it have a heart monitor?

Re: NEWBIE Here

Ellipticals are a little pricey, but I love mine and make good use of it. I bought it about a year ago because I was having problems with my knees and my ortho doctor suggested it. It doesn't really look that nice in my living room but its the only place it would fit. Maybe someday I can move it into another room. Its nice though, because I can watch television while I am on it. Mine does have a heart rate monitor and I usually go up to 150-160.

I've had 2 knee operations myself, so I only use the elliptical myself. I've always wanted to have one at home. Someday!

Heart rate looks solid.

PSMF.

It's a good diet.

I've used it myself.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Yes, I have done this diet among many others. It absolutely works the fastest and best of any diet I have tried. However, I found that although losing is aways a challenge, maintaining the weight loss is even more challenging. Make sure that you really focus on the maintenance part of this program. Welcome to our community. You will find great info and support here.

Re: NEWBIE Here

How long did you stay on the PSMF diet and why was it hard to maintain?
I went back to the nutritionist today and she gave me alot of recipes to try. I have just been eating basic food. Meat and vegetables, some eggs, etc. I am anxious to try some of the recipes.
