| Newbie for New Start Happy I found this site! I'm new to the group and just figuring out now that my metabolic syndrome is something I need to pay attention to. Struggle cause I have some long standing stomach conditions that don't do well with high fiber and fresh veggies/fruits, but new troubles Pancreatitis ,high triglycerides, high cholestrol and hypothryoidism all mean it is time to get serious about what I am eating and what I am not eating. Proteins and water will be my new friends. Sugar and bread will be former friends. (Veggies/Fruit and my tummy are a little hard to digest.). So like the girl, Aly, who tolerated carbs and sugary foods better cause of lap band, I too even without lap band, turn to carbs when my stomach condition worsens. Funny how my tummy seems to be able to digest that stuff no matter what, but in the long run, it isn't good for my tummy or me.
So I'm changing my diet and getting my walking sneakers out of the closet. Water, protein mostly and exercise seem to be my fate. Looking for support in the group as I am single/live alone and while I have friends who support me, they haven't lived it..

| Re: Newbie for New Start Welcome to the Forums and I wish you good luck on your new beginning. I was sad to hear that you cant eat vegetables and fruits very well(what I consume most of), but I hope what ever meal plan your starting works for you and good luck with your exercise.

| Re: Newbie for New Start Thanks for the welcome JamesE and Chrisydj
I can eat a little salad or cooked veggies or fresh fruit or canned fruit in juice...I love salads and fresh fruit but just have to see how the tummy processes them that day.
I just came back from a business trip and stuck to my plan of low carbs, did eat some fresh fruit, some salads....so far okay
Thanks for your support. I have lost 6 lbs this week ...I am doing Lindora program. I did a ton of walking and tons of water consumption, so that helps.
Good week wishes to you both.

205 | If you have to eat carbs, maybe you can try focusing on the healthier whole grain carbs? I know fiber doesn't agree with you, but in moderation maybe you could stomach it?
I agree protein and water are two HUGE keys to success, and most people don't have enough of both. What exactly do you eat on an average day?
