| New and Ready (I Hope)! Hi everyone, I'm new on this forum and just looking for some moral support. I have struggled with my weight all my life. Currently I'm about 60 lbs. overweight. My biggest problem is that I have absolutely no willpower whatsoever. I will start a diet on Monday and be off by Wednesday. I just can't stick to ANYTHING. The only thing that's come close to working is South Beach, which I can do for about 4 weeks then it's down the drain. I've tried everything, from starving myself (terrible I know but it only lasts a few hours before I cave), Weight Watchers, Atkins (HA! yeah right! I live for carbs!), Slim-Fast, you name it. Just wondering what gives you strength and keeps you going. No matter what I do and how strong I feel at the beginning of a diet, it crumbles by day three then the whole "I guess I'm not that bad" feeling sets in. But by Monday, I'm depressed and mad at myself, and the whole process starts over. How does everyone keep it going day after day? |

some of us write things down on paper that we are going to eat the next day. some of us keep a running blog in the blog forums here and post everything we eat and do, and sometimes knowing that the world will see you do good and see you do bad is encouragement to do good. others put pictures of themselves looking their best and worst on the refridgerator as a reminder, or even a scale next to the fridge. others get in competition with a friend and they motivate each other.
but best of all you can just post here and we will be your support group as well!

I am with you. I wish I had someone right next to me all the time to take the lead until I get enough willpower to stand on my own. We all have been knocked down but the important thing is that we get up again and we keep trying until we get to our goal.

Glad you decided to join us. I'm with you, because sticking with it is the hardest part for me. I guess if you are truly ready and trying to take off the extra pounds for the right reasons, than you will be able to stick to it. The key for me is that if I blow it at one meal, or even for an entire day, that I forgive myself and then get right back on track. My mantra has become that "Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels". I know you can do it if you are truly ready. We are here to support each other. Nobody will judge you, they will just listen and encourage. The members here are pretty terrific! Best of luck. I look forward to hearing about your progress. |
