| My First Post... Where do I begin... Well I am Steve, 52 and have been overweight all my life. About 6 years ago I did this big lifestyle change and actually lost 135 pounds in 1 year. I really lost the 135 pounds in 10 months and the last 2 months maintained. I needed to lose 200 pounds but just couldn't pull it off... So guess what happened then... you guessed it, I gained it all back in 1 year + 10 pounds extra. Despite me telling myself I would never gain the weight back.
I really need to lose this weight now, not only to look good but because of my health and future... My sugar is rising... cholesterol rising, knees need to be replaced and I am not the happiest person in the world. I want to get my life back again. I want to enjoy life before it's to late. To do some simple things like the movies, plane ride, baseball game... So I am here to learn some ideas and get back on track. I am also here to find others that may want to share ideas and chat about how to beat the obstacles that we may encounter.
So thats all for now, hope to hear from you soon.

| Re: My First Post... Hi Joe,
I watched my fat intake and kept it below 5 grams a day. I became a vegetarian for 9.75 years. I never said I did it the correct way but I lost weight. I also gained it back faster than I lost it. This time I want to do it the healthy way.

Sounds like you definetly have the willpower to loose the weight, as you've done it before, but you're looking for a different method this time?
A lot of people around the forums use standard calorie counting, and exercise. But we all need to remember that after we've lost the weight, we still need to keep eating healthy, or we'll end up where we started and have to fight the fat all over again. (I'm having a yo-yo problem with my weight at the moment from that fact )
Did you calorie count before as well as watching your fat grams?

I just made sure I took my time eating and averaged what I thought would be around 1800 calories... in my head not actually counting. If I wasn't sure I took only a few bites. After a while you understand what a portion is.
I tried to keep it real if you know what I mean.
