| Introducing......! Hi y'all!
New to this forum, my name is Jeanne, and yes, I'm fat. I like being big, my years of weightlifting make it possible to be an integral part of a powerful team. But now that I have rounded to corner to forty something, I am finding that my calorie intake was way to high for my sedentary life style. I was bucking 100 lb alfalfa bales from tractor trailers all summer then accidently dislocated my pelvis from my spine. (ouch). In my recovery, I was so concerned with healing that I neglected to scale down my eating, and the steroids Injections I was getting were helpful in keeping my appetite ravenous.
Enough of the excuses, Since October 15th I've had a Hypertensive Crisis, Cardiac arrythmia's and multiple ineffective medications and medication changes. The beta blockers I am taking have sucked the energy from my body, as well the calcium channel blockers, the ACE inhibitors and two different diuretics. I don't have the strength or endurance to do much but walk back and forth to the refrigerator. I have gained 58 pounds in 4 months and have decided to stop the madness.
I am hoping that I can make friends here and get support from other people who are in a similar situation. I will offer my support to anyone who will encourage me and help me stop blaming my meds and injury for this weight gain.
My husband is very supportive but he has started eating with me and has also gained weight. I am hoping that I can lose weight and he will react by losing weight to. I am very concerned for our health. We are active physical people and our lives are being compromised by our poor eating habits.
Thanks for reading,
Jeanne

Sounds like you've had a rough time with that injury! (ouch!!) Have you recovered enough to begin some light exercise? How are you planning to loose your weight?

| Re: Introducing......! Well, walking is a challenge because the energy requirements to walk are greatly overcome by the beta blockers I am on. I can expend a little energy but the cost is a depleted potassium that causes more muscle pain. Until they get my hypertension under control the exercise will have to wait. I get up an move around as much as possible. It's going to be a rough road. 800 calories a day is still not low enough, but I have essentially arrested my weight gain.
