| Hi im new here Hello everyone,
My name is Kris, im 21 and as you can see i am new to these forums. I am 6'2 and 250 lbs and I would be happy to lose just about as much as i can. I have the free time and going to school. The problem is I dont know where to start, I work out a bit but nothing is on schedule. I own a tredmill and i Just wanted to know how i can start losing weight. What would be great if there was a plan I could stick to or a schedule for work outs that i can do.
thanks,
Kris from Ohio |

Losing weight is easier than you think. At the end of the day it's a matter of eat fewer calories than your body uses (burns). This is called a calorie deficit.
Exercise makes it easier to maintain a deficit since it burns some of the calroies you eat.
A good start would be to consistently exercise. If you can run on a treadmill without discomfort (joint pain, back pain, etc), then that would be great for you. The more you use it the more calories you will burn. I would try to set a schedule for you to exercise on the treadmill, working your way up to where you can hit the treadmill at least for 30 minutes straight at a good pace. You may not be able to go fast at first, and that is fine, but you should keep pushing yourself and turning up the resistance/speed as you get in better shape. I would start at 30 minutes at a pace that keeps your heart rate up.
It would help to know more about your eating habits, so if you could tell us what you eat in a given day (normally), we can find room for improvment.
If you are really looking for a specific food plan, we can show you how to make your own plan that will allow you to lose weight at a rate that you choose.

| Re: Hi im new here Welcome to the community.
I agree with the above post. At first, it simply a matter of building consistency. To do that, I'd pick the path of least resistance. For some, this will be swimming. For others it will be jogging. For others it's strength training.
The bottom line is, you need to find something you enjoy doing to build the foundation of consistency.
Once new habits are established, you can start fine-tuning your approach. Ideally, at the end of the day, you have yourself a well-structured dietary program, you're weight training, and you're doing some cardiovascular conditioning. And this will come in time.
Also, nutrition is probably most important right now. So as stated in the above post.... how are you eating currently? |
