| Hi All Hi from Canada. Little about myself. Like many have had the ups and downs with weight most of my life. My highest weight was 298 lbs. Lost 140 lbs of that in about 11 mths, that was 5 yrs ago. Since then about 40 of those lbs have snuck back up on me, well didn't sneak, i knew they were comming back on but chose to ignore them i suppose, due to a bit of depression, unhealthy relationships, and generally feeling just plain unhappy. I believe or hope I can get back into that state of mind where my health is important to me again because you only do get one shot at this thing called life. I am hoping that this site can get me into that "state of mind "
Cheers
CindyLou

Hi CindyLou! I am in the same boat you are. My weight has been up and down my entire life. I have found this website to be really helpful. There is great info on getting healthy and caring support from the members. Even if you have just had a bad day or experience, there is a place to post and the support will follow. I have found great recipes and articles. I'm sure your experience will be as good as mine. Good luck, I know you can reach your goal. :-) |

I found what was easiest for me was a routine. I would always make sure of my parents for their 'rut', but it's honestly the easiest way to be consistant.
I'm one of those people that doesn't mind eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch everyday though.
As for exercise, can you consult your doctor (or even staff at a fitness centre) for exercises you can do with ostioarthritis?

Sorry guys close your ears.......... but to all the heavier ladies out there. Bras are the worst to shop for being overweight, stuff hangs over the side, loose skin from my previous weight loss, jeans I just walked right by after the bra incident. My daughter just says geez Mom everyone has that, just grow old gracefully. I remember how good I felt when I lost the previous 140 lbs but It just seems harder this time to get started

Don't get discouraged!
You've come so far already. You did it once, and you can do it again!
I would always get depressed after clothing shopping with my thin friends. I would always go home upset, and tell myself that I would never look good in that, or would never fit into that etc etc. But it's not a never ever. Hard work, determination, exercise and healthy eating can change it.
Everyone just needs a little reminding now and again.
You're on the right track, don't loose heart and keep your focus.

You might have added some muscle!

I know exactly how you feel CindyLou on hating the shopping thing. I used to cry when I would go into a store's dressing room after getting something a size that fit me the last time I went shopping or something that I thought should fit b/c it was the same size as my other stuff at home.
It really sucks when that happens but you'll get through this. You are stronger of a person than you were at your max weight. If you weren't you would have never lost all that weight to begin with. Good lcuk!

| Re: Hi All Well I lost the weight last time I had a very powerfull motivation. My dad had died of a massive heart attack while he was out sledding in the mountains, had high cholesterol but never sick a day in his life he was 61. When my mom got the death certificate back, 1 of the causes was obesity, he was maybe 30 to 40 lbs overweight. Since I was 140 lbs overweight it scared the poop out of me so bad that I made the commitment to lose the weight. Thanks for all your kind words everyone. I remember how good I felt after losing the weight. Aches and pains were gone, could breath better, had more energy, not as tired all the time. I hope to use those reasons this time to get in shape

Just helping your knees out should be motivation too! Just remember we're all here to cheer you on along the way!
Another thing you can do is to start a new topic in our blog section and write down everything you're doing, whether good or bad. Eating, exercising, results, etc......some people here track things daily, others weekly, but it helps a lot of people to put it all down on e-paper so to speak!

Hi CindyLou,
Congratulations for taking the first step to getting healthy. We are all going through the same thing, and know how difficult it is to drop the pounds. The members here are very supportive because they truly understand and care. Pick a food plan and if possible, incorporate some physical activity (even walking will due to start). Try to check in with us as often as possible so we can answer your questions or offer advice. You can do this. Good luck and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you. |
