We can help you figure out exactly what you need to do both eating and/or exercise wise to achieve your weight loss goals. We just need to get a better understanding of whether or not you are willing to exercise, and get some more details about how much weight you'd like to lose, when you'd like to lose it by, limitations, etc.

| Re: Hi! I am 50 miles south of Tulsa... Thanks for the welcome! I have not been exercising but need to get started. I would like to loose 140lbs within 18 months. I am 44 and have a office job sitting in front of a computer (not much physical stuff with my line of work). I am 5'0". Would love any advise. Also I am starting out by cutting out sweets....for now I am not worried about counting anything. Would welcome any advise.

That being said, most of your weight loss is going to have to come from a reduction in calories consumed. The problem is if you aren't counting what you eat then you really don't know whether or not you are eating the right amount of food to help you achieve your weight loss goals. What we encourage people to do is calculate (and we can do this for you) how many calories a day your body burns on its own based on your lifestyle/activity level. From there we can tell you roughly how many calories a day you should try to eat in order to achieve your weight loss goals. Otherwise it's a crapshoot.
Cutting out the junk/soda/sugar is A HUGE must.
Other things that help (although very minimally compared to calorie reduction include: Upping your water intake drastically, eating a lot more protein, getting rid of white bread for whole grain/wheat bread helps too, etc.

I also checked out the boards and read a lot of posts before I started posting. I'd been to so many weight loss boards that were all about the new fad diet, or the next fad pill. This place is so great!

No fad diets here. A waste of money and a lot of heartache in my opinion.

| Re: Hi! Simple version: Based on your info your body burns about 2250 calories a day. In order to achieve your goals you need to eat roughly 1250 calories a day on average over the long haul.
This is very doable and is very similar caloriewise to what a lot of others are eating too.
If you want, either now or at a later time, we can walk you through how to better break down that daily calorie target into protein vs. carbs vs. fat.

Thank you | Protein drinks will help because it is very hard to achieve high protein consumption with just food. He will explain in more detail I am sure

| Re: Hi! Alrighty......
Based on your stats, I would shoot for the following:
85g protein which = 340 calories
70g carbs which = 280 calories
70g fat whch = 630 calories
Grand total calories, 1250!
Remember, you don't have to nail these to the T, but try to get as close.
Follow this eating pattern and the weight should start coming off.
