Hey. New guy here...

Good afternoon. I'd like to just take a moment, introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my story for those who are interested.

Right now I'm 22 years old, weighing in at 249 lbs, yes that's right, 249 not 250 Anyhow, my ultimate goal is to become a Police Officer within my local community. Please, no hate

Back in 2005 I started the year weighing in at around 280 lbs. I was in the worst shape of my life. I decided to do something about it and with the help of having some one to go to the gym with, between Feb. 2005 and Aug. 2005 I was able to get down to 219 lbs. I was the happiest you've ever seen anyone. I also did a lot of weight training as I love to lift as well.

Well, after my workout partner decided to move I slowly backed away from the gym myself. Since I've been adding the weight back on and my muscles have gone the way of the Dodo Bird. I don't consider myself extremely over weight, but I do see myself as having some sort of weight problem. I'm the only one in my entire family that is this over weight. I've been slimmer before and know that I can do it again.

The reason I have my target date down as March 22nd, 2008 is because that is when the Police Entrance exam takes place. Granted the actual academy would not start until months after the exam which would give me ample time to better myself if I should be accepted, I wanted to set this for myself and see if I can do it then.

I'm terrible when it comes to keeping track of what I do at the gym. I have little to no idea what I'm really doing. I know nothing about dieting nor couting calories, carbs, etc... My goal this time is to come in prepared with as much knowledge as I can squeeze in.

From my slight peruse of this site before I was validated it looks as if I have come to the right place for the information I'm in search of. Sorry this has been so lengthy, but I basically wan to say thank you for allowing me to become part of your community.

Welcome to the site! I'm sure everyone here will be of great help to you. I know they have been to me. Just then encouragement helps keep you going everyday. I myself dont count calories. I've cut out carbs and sugars for a while and started drinking ALOT more water plus have started walking on a treadmill for at least 30 min a day. So far I've lost 14 lbs in about 2 weeks! So if I can do it I'm sure you can.

Congratulations on your weightloss so far!

Are you looking to learn about counting calories now? Did you change you eating habits before when you were going to the gym?
