| Hello from Guin Hello everyone !
My name is Guinevere or Guin for short. I am in my late 40's and in the last 10 years have put on 75 lbs. There are many reasons why I have gained 75 lbs in the last 10 years. I don't feel obese and sometime I don't think I look obese. But I saw it in black and white on my doctors report "Obese".
Obese is such a scary word. It would be the equivilant of the I word for a man.
The past 10 years have been devoted to my children, husband and job and I have neglected myself.
Well, it's time to take myself back again. I really want to be that attractive, healthy, sexy woman again.
I need help. I need motivation to get these pounds off. I need a gym partner. I need support and friends to help me.

You've definitely found the right place for support and friends! This place is packed full of knowledgeable people, always full of good advice and kind words
I found a big motivator for me was using the Blog section and making a Blog for myself that I update daily with what I ate, and my exercise for the day (as well as some whining )

I'm really struggling to get rid of those last few lbs though. It's getting rather frustrating.

I'm looking forward to the new year when I should be able to afford some new clothes for myself. I'm looking forward to buying a part of jeans that I don't absolutley have to wear a belt with
Enough about me though! What's your plan for your weight loss? You mentioned a gym, have you joined one?

Good for you for putting you first, an important step! You'll get all the motivation here you can handle!
Other than going to the gym, have you decided if you are going to change your eating habits as well?

| Re: Hello from Guin Hello everyone,
Nice to meet you all.
I am becoming more and more aware of my eating habits. I need to find what works and what doesnt work and change what doesnt work.
I usually am up at 5:30 am and out the door by 6:45 to take the boys to school. I may drink some water when i get up but I grab a go cup of coffee on the way out the door.
After I drop the kids off at school I have about 2.5 hrs before I have to be at work so since the weather has been so nice and cool I have been walking. I find I drink some more water but then on my way to work i have this craving for an energy drink and i usually stop off and get one. Maybe that is my security blanket.
I pull 4 10 hr days and work from 11 am - 9:30 pm which I find I am liking.
When it starts getting cold we have a Club Fitness here that charges $20 a month with no sign up and I can go indoors. I just wish I had someone to walk with or meet at the gym or just give me that extra boost.
I am sure once I get to the gym I will meet people who have the same goals.
Oh, I also have a tread mill downstairs, a heavy bag and speed bad and weight machine. I go thru spurts with that too.

Really what'll help you achieve your goals is to find the right balance of healthy eating and exercise to create a big enough calorie deficit that will let you lose weight at a pace that you choose. If you can ball park how much exercise you'll get in a given week, then you can easily figure out (with our help) how many calories you should eat each day to lose however many pounds a week you choose.

That's awesome you have a tred mill, then even if it's too cold outside (even to get to the gym) you can always get at least some exercise at home.

Oh, the other 'I' word. Actually a part of me is sort of looking forward to the day the pesky little scamp falls asleep and gives me some time to myself.
In all seriousness I agree that actually having it fall under a medical term can be very sobering. When I started I was 'Super obese', which is the next stage after 'morbidly obese'. Kinda weird that it'd be worse, 'super' is a far less ominous term than 'morbid'...
From what you've described it sounds like you're starting off well. Once you've determined what approach will be most comfortable it gets much easier/ Quote:

I find I don't post as frequently as I'd like but I often come here to read other people's stories and advice as good motivation. Good to have you here.

| Re: Hello from Guin Guin, welcome to the "club" and best of luck to you, reaching your goal.
I wasn't able to weigh in at my work's weight-loss club this week, so I don't know if I lost my usual pound per week.
I am using the basement treadmill religiously, along with the weight-resistance machine we have. This is exercise I haven't had in years, and I feel so much better every day as a result of it.
You keep going, girl!
