| Hello and my intro.. Hello
I have searching for a forum like this for so long and this really seems supportive and very friendly. I have battled weight most of my life but I hav ehad some slim years also. A nightmare happened to me when I had actually gotten down to a nice size...I got a very rare illness call Cushings which is cause by a tumor on the adrenals or pituitary causing steroids in the body. Even on 800 calaries a day I was gaining weight. I gained a 100 pounds in one year and it took awhile until I was diagnosed. I had surgery and immediately began losing weight afterwards as much of the swelling had come down. I turned to food agin when I was faced with alot of stress and now have alot to lose again. Through this group I hope to share more and more and to learn from others here also. Thank you for letting me join. cherie |

| Re: Hello and my intro.. Hi again...well actually I joined an institute which claims t have doctors and dieticians and a trainer. I was very happy there and learnt quite a bit about food which I never knew and was doing ok when the trainer had me do some stupid excercise of standing and sitting down on a chair 20 times. The next day my knees felt like they were smashed and my legs became so swollen and I ended up in the ER room. I am still in great pain but I did learn how to count calories and I have changed my way of eating very much. I have learnt to read labels and how to make good choices. I searched for a forum like this hoping for the support and encouragement to continue. Thank you for your reply to me. cherie |

| Re: Hello and my intro.. HI again
The dietician originally gave me 1900 calaries and I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. They then said that was too much weight loss in a short time so they upped me to 2400 calaries and the next week I gained 4 pounds and was distraught. I am not really sure but I think I should aim for around 1800. I am sedentary right now cause of the damage to my knees and my health. Do you think that is right for me? Thank you for your reply. cherie |

So if you wanted to lose 1lb week, you'd want to eat roughly 2060 calories a day. To lose 2lbs a week, you'd want to eat roughly 1560 calories a day.
I think the reason you lost so much weight so fast was water weight. If you stuck to 1900 calories a day you'd lose about 1-1.5 lbs a week of fat on average over the long run.

| Re: Hello and my intro.. Thank you so much. I am going to aim for the 1560 calories....I hope you are right because I know the counting calories is the only way to go. Everything else is all quick loss and then fat gain again. cherie |

Basically the sweeteners can make you crave more carbs in the long run. Not to mention some sweeteners have shown negative health effects in the long run.
Regardless anything with carbonation is bad for your bones as well. Just food for thought.
