| Hello Hello to all members. This is the first time that Ive joined any forum realting to weight loss. Recently I have felt the need to reinvent myself and take on an active and healthy lifestyle. Im 30 years old and most days now i feel Im 50. Ive been gainning pounds slowly through the years and its only now Ive realized that my weight is alarming and that I need to do something if I want to live longer. I vowed to myself today that im going to lose weight nd live right. I am now weighing 79 kilos and would want to drop ro 55 kilos in six months. I want to do this because I love myself and Id want to recapture and relive the feelings I had ten years ago when I was fit and truly healthy. I hope That with your help and support Id be able to achieve my goal. This is the first time that I felt excioted about starting to diet and exercising. I started today and so far it has been good. Ive read amazing weight loss stories here and Ive been inspired. Thank you and I hope Ill contonue to gain insights and inspirations from this forum.

| Re: Hello H! to both of you. Well so far Ive changed several of my normal routines to be able to adjust to my weight loss program. Ive lead a sedentary lifestyle for the past years and Ive decided to engage in several physical activities. I know walk 8 kilometers a day at a sports complex near my office after work and have invited a friend to play badminton with me 3 times a week. Moreover, Ive stopped eating junkfoods and sweets since yesterday. Ive decided to eat more greens and less of carbo and fats. I have one problem though, Im from asia (philippines) and we"re a rice eating country. I like to eat rice and I find bread substitute less filling and tasteless. What other rice substitutes do you suggest? This is my second day on my diet and so far I feel very upbeat about it. Except for my aching feet, from walking, Ive no other complaints.

There was a good thread a while back that covered the glycemic index of various types of rice. It's a good way for you to eat rice that takes longer to process, thus making you feel fuller longer.
I think you're on a great regimen! The only thing I didn't see a mention of is protein.....how much are you eating a day?

| Re: Hello again Thanks for all your warm welcome. I havent been well for the past few days as Ive been very sick with flu and fever. I hardly ate cause I dont have an appetite which is one good thing. However, I just want to be well again so I can focus on exercising. Youre right I dont have much protein on my diet. The only source of protein that I eat regularly is fish which I eat five times a week. YOu think I should have protein evryday? How much protein do I need?

| Re: Hello I'll Try to incorporate as much protein in my diet.I feel that Ive lost weight , cause primarily I ve been sick and had no appetite but nevertheless Ill take advantage of that...hahahaha Its one way to at least shed off some pounds.
What I want to know is what kin of vitamids should i take so that I wont have a low resistance when i go on a diet. Actually, Ive noticed that when I eat less or on a diet I have less energy or my resistance is lower. What do you think should I do? take Vitamins? And what kind of vitamis should I take?

You really shouldn't feel energy losses while trying to lose weight. It could be that some of the "diets" you've done in the past were borderline starvation plans, which many of them are. When I help people calculate the amount of calories to eat each day in order to achieve their weight loss goals, I have yet to hear anyone come back and say anything about having a lack of energy.

Starving yourself is never a good option....mainly because if you don't eat enough your body is going to start eating away at your muscles for energy since you're not giving it enough food for energy. When that happens you're going to lose muscle, which is the last thing you want to do because muscle itself helps you burn calories, not to mention you'll look better with a little extra muscle. .gif)
