| Re: carbs? Hello again! I am not diabetic, but my mother and grandmother are. I am just curious because I found an article that said it wasn't that bad for diabetics to consume candies and sugared foods! I knew diabetics could eat some sugar but candies?! and not sugarless candies, but... candies candies!

Healthy diabetic eating includes (in general) - Limiting sweets
- Eating often
- Being careful about when and how many carbohydrates you eat
- Eating lots of whole-grain foods, fruits and vegetables
- Eating less fat
- Limiting your use of alcohol
It's permissible to eat candy if you have Low Blood Glucose (Hypoglycemia). The sugar in the candy helps balance your Glucose levels. In that case it's recommended you eat a little hard candy or sugar, amongst other things.
Even though it's not recommended (unless there's extenuating circumstances such as the ones I mention), it's OK to have some candy/sweets on special occasions.
I'm talking 1/2 cup ice cream, 1 small cupcake or muffin, 2 small cookies etc.
Also if you're sick and having problems holding down food (nausea), sugar isn't a bad idea, since you need to get something in your system to keep your glucose levels in check.
Hope this helps.

I think moderation here would be the key.

| Re: carbs? carb and sugar-such broad words
sugars can mean honey which is ok and hfcs which is manmade trash found in coke
carbs? could mean macaroni or could mean brown rice i think the two are so different and the rice is ok not the white rice |
