Smile Brand New.

Hello everyone! I'm new at this kind of things, meaning forums and sharing with everyone about myself and my ...fat. Well let me start from telling you that I was fat and overweight from the time I can remember myself. Even my parents told me when I was little that they probably fed me too much milk when I was a baby...Every new year I dream of loosing weight and think about setting goals. But I gues those were just dreams 'cause every year I'd gain 10 or 15 pounds...I'm 17 now and want to go to college this year. But this year I'm serious about it and that's why I decided to join a supporting forum like yours, because I hear they helped a lot of people to lose weight and stay on their goals. I hope you guys will help me and support me.
THANK YOU!

Hi Lily and welcome! We'd love to be there for you along the way!! We can guide you on how to lose the weight in the timeframe you picked.....80lbs in 7.5 months is doable......but will require a revamping most likely of your eating habits and ideally a little exercise thrown into the mix. We're here at your service, so let us know if you'd like to work on a plan for yourself.

Brand New.

I am a home school student now, till this september I'm going to college. I eat whenever I feel like it but it's not like I eat all the bad stuff. I rarely eat junk food, mostly meats and breads. Not a lot of vegetables but when I can I try to eat them mostly. The problem is that my mom and I usually cook for the whole family one meal and my dad loves a good meal. Its really hard to mainatain any kind of diet in my family because my mom is a very good cook. My parents taught us when we were little to eat everything of our plates... I still can't fight off this habit. I'm a lazy person so I don't do much exercize. I started walking everyday for 30-40 minutes around neighborhood but I got really sick and got a cold from this weather we have in Seattle. I think thats it... does anyone has any suggestions or a good advice?

Hi Lily,

Welcome...used to live in Issaquah, Wa. Not a lot of warm days for walking. You really have to bundle up. It is hard to change eating when you still live at home and mom does the cooking. Maybe you can offer to cook part of the meal a little healthier?

Re: Brand New.

Welcome to the forums!

Part of healthy eating is portion control! You can still enjoy your mom's fantastic meals, but maybe put a little less on your plate than usual? My fiance is a wonderful cook, and while I do have a lot more control over what we eat for dinner, the odd occasion that he does cook something downright bad for me (but still incredibly yummy), I just try to take a small portion of it, and then have a healthy snack later in the night if I'm peckish.

That's good you're getting more active. That will definetly help with your weight loss. I always hated exercise when I was younger, but this past year I've found once I get into the swing of it, I really enjoy it. After a few sessions you'll start feeling better (not only physically, but emotionally as well), and you'll want that high all the time

One piece of advice I will give, is that you should do a little research of the calorie value of foods you normally eat. I never thought I ate particularily badly (apart from the fast food I used to eat, and all the dinners out), but when I started counting calories, I was amazed by how many calories some of the foods I thought were healthy had! Even if you can't outright count calories because your mom cooks dinner for you, it might be good to have a ball-park idea of the foods you're eating so you can take smaller portions of the more caloric ones.

That methodology of eating everything on your plate doesn't help matters, but maybe you can ask for smaller portions so that way you CAN still eat everything on your plate and not eat too many calories? Can you join a gym of any kind or get some workout videos that you can do indoors? There are a ton of workout videos available for the home market.
