| another newbie here! Hello everyone!
My name is Mindee, and I am 25 years old. I am currently 242.6 pounds. At my highest weight ever I was 285 pounds, but I gave birth to my oldest child four days later. But that is still my highest weight ever, so I count it anyways.
I have since had two more children....for a grand total of three children within a time span of three years and a day since I gave birth to my oldest child to the birth of my youngest child.
I have been overweight pretty much my entire adult life, so far, and I want to make a change! I want to be healthier for myself first and foremost, and for my husband and kids! I want to be able to do things with them and not get winded....I want to be around to see them grow up and to have their own families!
So, I figure now is as a good a time as ever!
If I left anything out, or you have any questions, feel free to ask away. I will gladly answer them!

I haven't sat down and put a major plan into action just yet. But I have been watching what I eat, cutting down the size of the portions (which has been a major thing for me), exercising more, and drinking more water!
The weather here.....really isn't that warm! It is going to hit a high of about 44 degrees on Saturday. Right now, it is 20 degrees above freezing. Man, I wish I lived somewhere warm!

right now, I am trying to get the ball rolling with the small steps. but I also need to figure out how to keep up with it while chasing three little ones around. (but I guess all the chasing around will help shed the pounds)
I do have to say that you look great! Congratulations on your weight loss! you are an inspiration to me!

Your welcome hun
You would think chasing the little ones around would help. But that wasnt the case for me. All mine are grown and married now but I chased four kids around and just went up and up.
What will help is changing the way you cook for everyone, its best to teach the kids while they are young to eat healthy anyway so you get that added benifit. lol
Good Luck to you on your lose and goals. Just take it slow and one day at a time. Sometimes an hour or meal at a time helps too. If you blow it try not to just give up for the day dont beat your self up and just try to do better the next meal.
Thank you for the nice comments. Its taken a lot of hard work and a lot of failures but never giving up to make it this far.

| Re: another newbie here! thank you so much for those nice words of encouragement!
our three little ones are all 18 months apart, except the oldest and the youngest. they are three years and a day apart. so, I know that most of the body issues are from having kids back to back to back. (I don't regret having them at all) after each one though, I was able to get down to a decent weight, just to end up pregnant again. so I was almost afraid to start back into the swing of trying to lose weight again....but thankfully I got my tubes tied after my daughter was born.
during the summer, and the nice weather, I was able to get in plenty of walks with the kids. a double stroller and a snuggli helped me make a lot of things happen! I even used them to take the kids trick-or-treating. I am taking every baby step that I can, and I know that once I start to see more results I will be a little less harder on myself. I try not to give up after slip ups....I just know that I need to work harder during work outs or take a walk..if the weather cooperates.
I told my husband that all I wanted for my birthday was a digital scale and a recipe box with cards. I have been using them both since. I need to get back into looking for healthier recipes. We don't, or I should say hardly ever, eat out anymore. So, that has been a BIG step for me. My next biggest flaw that I need to get away from is the drinking pop! I go through spurts where I can go for about a week without it, and then I have a rough night with the kids and I find myself using it for the caffeine to help me get through the day.
I know that I can drink the Crystal Light Energy drinks without having to grab a pop.....because that has the caffeine already in it. But I have heard that drinking those basically puts a kabosh on any exercise that you do because of how much caffeine is in it. So, I am looking for other options in that department.

I am not really sure what you meant by your post, but the way that I took it, it sounded like you had thought that I was pregnant. I am not pregnant, I had my tubes tied in April of this year. So, we are done with adding to our family.

What type of soda are you drinking? Could you at least switch to a diet version? You have to drink 3-4 cans of soda to get the caffeine found in one cup of coffee.....so you'd REALLY have to drink a lot of soda to get you enough caffeine to get through the day as you put it. Is there anyway you could drink something else like coffee or green tea to get your caffeine fix?
Killing the eating out was one of the best things you could have done for yourself. Good for you!!!

I don't remember where I heard that about the exercise and caffeine. Right now I drink regular Coke. But I have been wanting to switch to Diet Coke. I know that it would definitely make it easier for me to slow down on drinking it. I used to put regular pops away like it was nothing, but lately I have one or two during the day. And if I am really dragging booty then possibly three cans. But usually nothing more then that.
I don't really like coffee, but I have had green tea before. So, when we go grocery shopping next I will pick some up. As for the eating out, it is usually on a rare occasion when we eat out now. Before it used to be every Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday. Now, it is maybe once a week....unless we are super busy and don't have time to cook (but that is very rare).

Sounds like you've already made some great healthy changes to your lifestyle and have already seen some promising results from them!
I used to drink a ton of pop. Lately I've been drinking more than usual, but I've switched to Coke Zero (I like it better than Diet Coke). I try to drink a lot of water during the day as well, and I use the little crystal light singles to spice it up every now and then.

I have made the healthy choices, now I just have to make sure that I stick with them when we go places! I actually did really well over the holidays which surprised me. I am not really a sweets eater, so that was a good thing.
I find that if I use either Kool-Aid or the Crystal Light packets to add to water, it makes drinking it a lot easier then if it were plain water. I mean, every now and then I get a craving for a nice cold glass of water, and for that it usually leads to a couple glasses....which helps....I just need to get back into the habit of drinking more of it during the days!

A lot of us here drink it.
Getting rid of 2 cokes a day will make a HUGE difference. Rididng 2 cokes a day from your routine is going to be roughly a pound of weight you won't put on every two weeks.

I didn't realize that getting rid of two cokes a day would rid my body of that much weight every two weeks!
