| another newbie hello, my name is amber. I am 28, married, two kids (7 and 3), My hubby just got out of the Army in May, he came home safe and sound from Afghanistan in Feb. so now we are back home in Florida.
I think I am finally ready to change my eating and exercise habits. I want to be healthier, but I do have a vanity motive. I am tired of people asking me when I am due....sigh. haven't been pregnant for over 3 years.
My weaknesses include poor will power, sweets and soda. I do not enjoy veggies (atleast the good ones) at all. I've tried, and though I know it's in my head, a gag reflex kicks in and I have to choke veggies down.
My strengths include....hmmm nothing to do with healthy living LOL. I'm hoping to change that.

I hate to tell people this, but you don't need veggies to lose weight and be thin, I'm living proof of this. I admittedly hate em too.
Ditching the garbage and even getting started taking some walks will help quite a bit, but ideally exercise that gets the heart pumping too.
Have you decided exactly how you are going to change your eating habits/exercise routine?

| Re: another newbie thanks for the warm welcome. sorry it took so long I was waiting on a new battery charger for this laptop. Got it today. so fingers crossed, I'm back online.
Thank you for the comments on my hubby's service. I am proud of him, and therefore think everyone else should be too. LOL j/k
Well, someone asked how I planned to move towards a healthier lifestyle.
I have cut back on soda, alot, but probably not enough. I have stopped eating icecream 3 days a week. (i know, but publix had this sale, and for a while we had icecream in the freezer...) Instead of just eating, I am paying attention to what I am eating, how much, and when. I am forcing myself to eat something in the morning. My weaknesses are still here. Like today for breakfast I had cottage cheese and fresh peaches. I missed the high fructose syrup canned peaches though LOL. Yesterday I snuck a reese's cup. It was there, and sometimes I have this thought that if no one sees me eat it, that it doesn't count. LOL I know silly and kinda on the stupid side. I know it counts, but I'm the only one who knows I ate it. sigh.

Did you ever have an outdoor activity or sport you enjoyed participating in?

| Re: another newbie I've tried v8 splash and the smoothies, my kids love it, but it has a wierd smell and after taste. It's not so bad when I plug my nose and gulp LOL.
My mom has an above ground 4ft deep pool I play around in w/ the kids. And I wanna try racket ball. My son is a little young for it, and he's "that kid" (you know the one that runs up and down the bus screaming) and he bolts when ever he cans. So taking them isn't a good option if I'm actually gonna do any sports.
Any ideas for at home? Most the videos kinda depress me LOL I mean first I can't keep up, and second I get to stare at all these people who are thin and lean, and hardley breaking a sweat.

At home you could buy dumbbells and at least lift some weights. Other option is to buy an elliptical machine, treadmill or exercise bike, and you can watch TV while on it. Tons of people get rid of em used for cheap.
Can you get a friend to play racquetball with you in the mean time?

thanks for the info, I'll have to look for equipment after we find a house, there's no room here at my mom's.
and what is an elliptical machine?
