| Another New Face Again OK, so now that my first post went through (was having difficulties) I will post my introl My name is Linda, I am 51 years old. My husband and I just moved from Chicago, to southeastern Indiana by Louisville, KY. We went from the hectic city and bought a 70 acre farm. We really love it here. It is so peaceful. I have given up my Harley and now have 3 beautiful horses to play with. This is the first time in 20 years that I'm not working a full time job outside the home and it is totally wierd. One of my dreams is to open an animal shelter. I am currently looking into how to get funding and support. Any suggestions would be welcome. I am also try to sell earth friendly products as well as make baskets with spa things in them. It is hard for me to not try to make some sort of money. So anyway I am glad I found this group as I am desparately trying to loose weight. I am currrently going through peri-menopause and have gained weight and have had a wonderful weight shift LOL. I quit smoking the beginning of this year so I know that has not helped as I am always looking to be munching on something. I'm looking for a low fat diet as I have a real sensitive tummy and going through the change is making it worse. I have gerd and bile gastritis which will give me symptoms of having a heart attack at times which sends me into a panic attack.........viscous circle. I hope to meet others for friendship and support. My weight now is 235 lbs. This is the heaviest I have ever been and my first goal is to get down to 180 lbs. Hope to hear from others. Thanks for letting me part of the group. Linda.gif)

Have you figured out how you plan on attacking your weight loss goals? | Thanks for the welcome........yes I have been on LA Weight Loss plan before and it worked pretty well for me..........I read the starting off discussion and it sounds pretty much the same..........I know about LOTS of water. I have altered my diet though to be almost fat free as I am having TONS of troubles with my tummy lately. They say it all boils down to peri-menopause and stress. I have bile gastritis which gets my tummy in an uproar which triggers panic attacks........viscous circle. But anyway been doing lots of research on the subject to take care of it naturally.
Look forward to chatting more.
Linda

Welcome to the forums!
The people on here are full on information! How are you looking to loose weight? Add more exercise? Count calories? | Thanks for the welcome. I am hoping to be able to get financial funding for the animal shelter. Lots of work, but I think it's well worth it. Since we have moved from the city to the country, I see lots of animals just walking around, hence over population if you don't have your animal fixed or monitored. We currently have 2 dogs (1 came with the house, and 1 we rescued from death at the shelter) 4 cats (2 came with the house, outside cats) and 2 kittens that 1 we got from the shelter and the other I got off of freecycle, the owner picked up and left and threw the kitten out). We also have a bunny (which is my granddaughters) and a bird, and 3 horses. Next year we want to get some goats, chickens and ducks. My goal is to have an acre or more garden for tons of fresh fruits and veggies.
We are trying to live as natural as possible. I am so tired of the junk they put in your food nowadays and believe that it has such a negative affect on your body.
I will be eating less, more times a day and eating the right things.........good bye chips and dip LOL. I will be starting yoga and light exercising in the beginning til I get conditioned enough to do more.
I've been through this so many times, but never got into a group for support.
Thanks again
Linda

Originally Posted by Obesity Discussion Oh my, that's a lot of pets!!! How is the upkeep on all those animals? Time and cost? | The upkeep isn't that bad. Probably the ones that take the most time are the horses as you have feed them at a certain time everyday. Not like to cats or dogs...........just fill a bowl and eat at will.............the horses have to be put in their stalls, then given sweet grain.....while they are eating that I get a bundle of hay out of the big barn and bring in to the corral and break it up for them. When they are done with their grain, I usually spend some time with them either talking to them or brushing and picking the burrs out of their manes and tails. They love to be messed with. Then when we are done with that I let them out of their stalls and they go munch on the hay. Sometimes later in the evening I will give them carrots or apples as special treats. So yep they take the most time and cost the most to feed. But I really love spending time with them so it's worth it to me.

In fact when I was at the feed store I was talking to the owner about the chicks and he is getting them for us in March...........I guess we will have to hatch them...........that should really awesome for the granddaughter to watch. I want to get a donkey or 2 as I hear they are really smart animals. Plus it would be great for the granddaughter to ride. The other horses are really too big for her as she is only 5. .gif)
