I am trying to stick to this diet, and be healthy.

I have almost five weeks on a diet, and I have lost about 30lbs already. But I am really struggling because I feel like I am hungry all the time. I sometimes feel very lonely during this process because most people I know only need to lose 5-10lbs. I want to belong to a group of supportive people who have a similar goal of losing over 100lbs. I need help and support, if anybody has advice please help me do this!!!

Re: I am trying to stick to this diet, and be healthy.

I know how you feel. When I started on my journey to a healthy me I had 120 lbs to lose. I've lost 19 since Jan. 16th about 6-7 weeks. My boyfriend was going to do it with me but he is out of town ALOT and doesnt always get to eat the kinds of foods he needs. When he is at an oilfield for a week at a time and all he has to eat is what he can get on the roach coach it usually isnt healthy. My mom and dad are making similar life changes to mine but I only see them maybe once a week sometimes once a month. But I have this site and so do you. We are here to be as supportive as you need and give you any advise we can. What changes have you made?

Thanks for your support and kind response. I started eating oatmeal for breakfast, having protein like chicken for lunch with a lot of veggies, and then for dinner only vegetables of any kind. The truth of it all is that I always feel so tired, grouchy, and hungry. I've been walking a little more, but not much. My biggest problem is that I am hungry all the time.

I was having this problem too and I found if I eat a little more protein, it holds off my hunger longer. Speacial K also makes protein water in several different flavors. I like the pink lemonade! I drink it in the afternoons and it keeps me from getting the munchies at work. Hope this helps. Congrats on your loss so far! Keep up the good work!

Re: I am trying to stick to this diet, and be healthy.

You shouldnt be hungry at all. I myself eat scrabled eggs with cheese and some kind of veggie in them like zuchini or spnach or even tomatos and bell peppers and then i wrap it all up in a whole grain tortilla or put it in a whole grain pita and i have a glass of soymilk and 2 slices of turkey bacon. It is very filling and tasty. For luch or dinner sometimes I'll make myself a little pizza on whole grain flatbread my bf makes an awesome sauce with petite diced tomatoes and tomato paste and some spices but i'm not sure what all he puts in it but i top the pizza with lots of veggies of all kinds, yellow squach, zuchinni, egg plant, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and maybe some turkey bacon or canadian bacon sometimes no meat at all and then low fat cheese. stick it in the oven and yummy. (i'm making myself hungry) but the point is you shouldnt feel hungry if you are eat a snack there is nothing wrong with a snack i eat about every 2-3 hours or i try to i've got those little snack baggies filled with measured out or counted out snacks lol i have baggies with 30 pistachios some with 1/4 trail mix then there are the kashi granola bars those are awesome for a mid morning snack but dont make yourself miserable by not eating when your body says it needs to just eat till you dont feel hungry then when you feel hungry again eat a little bit or try a BIG glass of ice water then after you drink the water if you are still hungry eat a small snack it has helped me and it helps me drink more water

Hey FatSlayer, We can do this! Lets keep each other motivated. I know its gonna be tough but if we don't start today...its not going to be gone tomorrow! I feel like I probably need to eat more, I get the feeling I am starving myself too much and might slow down my matabolism. I also need to start walking more, but too be honest sometimes I feel like I walk like a crab (side to side) and get too conscious and then my joints start to hurt! But I am trying. So lets do this!

I am gonna check out those recipes and tell you how its going. I hate being hungry...or starving sometime I feel like I can't even fall asleep. I hear if that if you starve yourself it just works against you anyway. Thanks for the good tips.

Yeah, I felt like I was starving the first few days, but then my stomach shrunk a bit and I am satiated by less food now. I could probably eat more calories myself, but i'll see what happens on Monday when I weigh myself b4 I make any changes. It's hard to judge from the 1st week considering a lot of what you lose is water weight.

Re: I am trying to stick to this diet, and be healthy.

Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? I've really found that three things make me feel "full" ... fat, protein, and fiber. And, of course, fiber is sooooo good for you. My advice? Start intentionally increasing your daily intake of fiber (whole grains, fresh veggies) and you won't feel hungry! (It sounds like you're already doing a good job with lean proteins!)

By the way, my daily breakfast has 37g of fiber in it!
