D Rock's grilled Salmon.

I used filet portions for this incredibly easy and satisfying recipe.

You'll need:
  1. A BBQ
  2. Vinegar and Oil dressing
  3. Salt & Pepper
  4. Lime juice
  5. Aluminum foil
  6. Baller grilling skills
  7. Salmon, of course!
First, apply aluminum foil to the grill as a grilling platform for the salmon. Then, fire your grill and let it warm up while you liberally apply lime juice to your portions of salmon (front and back). As well, using a cooking brush to apply the vinegar and oil dressing in liberal amounts (front and back as well). Apply the dressing and lime juice prior to putting the salmon on the grill.

Now it's time to put the fish on the foil and let it grill. I let mine grill for roughly 8 minutes total on the aluminum foil (4 minutes front and 4 minutes back). While it is grilling go ahead and and liberal amounts of salt and pepper to each side.

Shortly after that, CAREFULLY remove the foil from under the salmon and apply it directly to the grill surface. The remaining time that is needed to grill properly will obviously depend on your grill and your grilling tastes (mine was roughly 7-10 minutes). I'm near certain this will provide you with tender and juicy salmon.

After your salmon is off the grill go ahead and serve w/ a side of your choice. I chose 1-1/2 cups of Romaine lettuce salad w/ vinegar, oil, 2 sliced mushrooms and 1/8 cup mozzarella cheese.

Enjoy!

- Dustin

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

Gonna try this. I am looking for more ways to cook Salmon. It is so healthful, but I get bored with the two ways that I prepare it.

I cook salmon in a pan on the stove. Coat with Olive oil sprinkle with salt and pepper and cook for 4-5 minutes per side starting skin side up. Afterwards I either put mango salsa or yoshida sauce on top or have with a Caesar salad.

I must try this... I suck at cooking fish. What I think will work... doesn't. I just keep grabbing from the Trader Joe's frozen section when I want fish. Sounds like a good plan for tonight.

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

We will put salmon on the grill with just some Lawry's Season salt (not too much as I am not a big salt eater) and lemon. That's really it. It gets wrapped in foil after smoking it about 20 min or so. It turns out fantastic!

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

I love to grill salmon.

Costco has a nice fresh salmon filet with sprigs of dill and herbed butter that I buy all the time...
  1. Start by making a little aluminum foil boat (take a sheet of foil, fold it into fourths, and then fold up the edges)
  2. Throw the salmon filet in the boat and the ball of butter up into smaller pieces so it's evenly distributed across the filet.
  3. Throw the boat on the grill, turn on the grill, close the cover, and let it cook it for 18 minutes (your time may vary).
  4. Spend those 18 minutes prepping other food, making a salad, getting your veg ready to go on the stove, etc.
  5. Take it off the grill by sliding it onto a pizza pan, and bring it back inside to let it cool.
  6. Serve up onto a plate, and toss the aluminum foil. No muss, no fuss.

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

Costco is where we get our Salmon. We just buy the (huge) filet, not the one w/the butter though. Costco meat and seafood rocks!!

BTW, I used to live in Wenatchee, WA!

Ha! It's a small world, isn't it?

I was born in Seattle, but grew up in East Wenatchee. Lived there for 13 years before coming back to Seattle.

I like it over there. Great place to grow up. Nicer weather and so many things to do outdoors.

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

Yes, the changing of the seasons is wonderful. We lived there for 8 years and moved back to Texas when our son was 6 months old. Would still be there too if there was a better job market. My husband worked for a manufacturing company out there and got sick of it...About that time another company came knocking so we moved back.

I worked for the humane society there and then the newspaper before coming back to Texas. The Shelter slimmed me down some, that's for sure.

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

I just made this and I must say it was darn good! I think the quality/type of the salmon and how long you cook it can have a big impact on the overall flavor. I went medium rare and went with a Scottish Salmon for mine. For whatever reason I find salmon that's cooked more than medium rare to be I don't know why.

Re: D Rock's grilled Salmon.

We have a Traeger grill and smoker. We lay our salmon on a sheet of foil and season it. Smoke it for about 20 min or so then wrap it for about the same amount of time. Not sure exactly what temp but when it comes out, it is so GOOD! My son loves it, too.

Anything we cook on that thing is awesome. We have had it for 3 years now and have never cooked bacon inside since then.

My problem is I only like to eat meat when it's well-done, but Salmon gets that stick-to-you-teeth chewiness when it's well cooked that is just gross. Maybe that's what makes you barf?

I'm pretty much always happy with lean beef or a boneless, skinless chicken breast so I stick with those. I guess that means I have to get my Omega fats from walnuts and avocados!
