Would you ever date someone who was obese?

Lets say you were single, would you ever date a person who was obese/overweight?

I never have (not that I've dated a lot ), but most of the guys I had 'crushes' on in jr. high and high school were carrying some extra weight. I don't think that's what necessarily attracted me to them, but they were all cute, and funny and had great personalities. But sadly they all had something else in common as well, rejecting me.

I dont see why I wouldnt weight has never been a consideration for a friend.

Everyone has their own opinion. But me personally don't think that weight would matter if you connect. Again I am young and such but truly to judge someone by the way they look on the outside before you know them is wrong. So I would not prejudge.

Re: Would you ever date someone who was obese?

I have no issues with other people's weight. In fact there are two girls I've been crushing on a little bit who are both at least my size. My biggest crush in high school was definitely obese. It's not my 'thing', in fact I honestly don't think I have a physically 'type' - no two girlfriends I've had have looked at all like one another. My measure of beauty has always been based on a person's strength of character and the way I feel when I'm around them. It goes the other way, too - the most physically beautiful woman I know is so interminably boring I don't think I could contemplate ever spending an amount of time with her that extended beyond one conversation at a time. But when you eliminate a type of person from the running because of how they look, or how you think other people will judge you by being with them, you're severely limiting your potential for companionship.
I have been the guy in a relationship with women far more attractive than me where their friends say "what the hell is she doing with that guy?". And these are adults we're talking about, not teenagers. In the unlikely scenario that one day I'd be in a relationship where the roles were reversed, I'd have to question my association with any friends who made similar comments.
While I didn't think it was especially funny that movie 'Shallow Hal' had a decent (if a little obvious) message.

Exactly what makes a person beautiful or handsome is what is on the inside. I guess you don't find too many people that are that way. Trust me my husband did not think I was very physically attractive at first. Then he got to know me fell in love with me and now look!!

Re: Would you ever date someone who was obese?

I am sorry but you know what.....any man can get that response. And know what? If that is said more flattering to you really. What matters is the couples happiness. Weight really should not hinder a relationship.
