Most Bizarr-o books I’ve finished
- what I mean by this is, usually if a book’s too crazy or inexplicable, I stop reading it...like most reasonable human beings. Here are some that I kept on reading, call it morbid curiosity, call it masochism, I dont know...

Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis is so fucked up… I’m sorry to say that that is the most eloquent description I can come up with. I don’t even know why I picked it up, to be honest. I’d read
Less than Zero (also by him) the previous year and hated it. BTW, before when I said that the books may only seem crazy in retrospect, this is not one of them... it was apparent from the start. He’s the guy that wrote the book for
American Psycho, one of the most fucked up movies ever encountered par moi. What can I say? He's just crazy.

Gal: A True Life by Ruthie Bolton. Okay what was most shocking about this book (and I read it in grade 8, so maybe I didn’t fully understand or just don’t remember it all that well now) was the father/stepfather in this book. Well not him but what he did…he had a toothache and instead of getting like a root canal or something, he just decided to get all of his teeth pulled out. WTF. I remember it saying in the book that his gums were hard enough to chew his food. Again, wtf. Isn’t it horrible that that’s essentially all of what I remember of this book????

She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb this book was really long and made me hate the 60s + 70s…(
The Virgin Suicides also did that...what an awful film. Joan Baez has proven to be mitigating, though.) Anyway, back to this train wreck of a story (I love that saying). I guess it’s not so much the book as the main character. She was so lost, and I dunno, I don’t remember sympathizing with her, even though we should’ve had the whole fat-girl-solidarity thing going…I read the book like 6 years ago, so maybe I didn’t understand it all, and really all I remember is that she lost 100+ lbs by imagining that her food was covered in mold. And she stalked her ex-roommate’s boyfriend by working at a photo lab...and she killed the janitor's fish with lysol...right after the janitor raped her...see? train wreck.
-This one book I can’t for the life of me remember the title of. I read it last year, and they had just come out with a sequel after like 15 years or something. Apparently it came out in the late 80s or early 90s and it was pretty famous. It was about this girl whose mother ODs and father’s a total alchy and she goes to live in a group home. And she’s really smart, I think … or something … talented … iunno, but pretty much uneducated aside from that…she’s white and all the white kids hate her cos she’s white trash so all of her friends are black (I guess it took place in some southern state in the US in the 60s or 70s). Anyway, she thought she killed her mother or something…I just remember that she had to go to her friend’s house and described the friend's mother as smelling like meat. It grossed me out. I still don’t know why I read that book.
PLEASE, IF SOMEONE KNOWS WHAT BOOK THIS IS (I know, it’s a horrible description, and I'm sorry) LEMME KNOW!!!
-Oh, and how could I forget?
Absolutely anything by V.C. Andrews is bound to be fucked up.
