02-29-12, 04:56 PM #2That's what I feel like doing today...

On another note though...what is that poor girl thinking? I don't know that that's the kind of photo you either want to pose for, or have someone else upload on the www...The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.

03-01-12, 10:21 AM #4Sad enough not to eat an entire strawberry cream cake?
I didn't post this here to make fun of this poor woman. I posted it because for those of us here with food addictions, this is where we are headed. How many of us have been guilty of this same thing? (not the posing for picture part, but sitting down and eating just ENORMOUS portions of a food)It's my choice. I can stuff my face with food or I can stuff my life with living.

03-01-12, 10:26 AM #5Yes it makes me sad enough to not eat a whole strawberry cream cake. Last night I was at the store to get my husband some jerky and I stopped in the bakery section and stood there contemplating buying a slice of red velvet cake. My daughter offered to split it with me, but instead I bought one of those little skinny cow ice cream things. Only 150 calories. and since I still had about 700 calories that I could eat I didn't feel guilty about satisfying a craving. And I felt so proud that I walked away without the cake.

03-01-12, 11:49 AM #6I don't know that I've eaten an entire cake that size...but I can put away some huge portions...
When I'm upset it's really hard NOT to eat...
And when I'm happy...I'm really not all that interested in eating...but finding a way to stay happy is elusive...lol...The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.

03-01-12, 05:04 PM #7Cheers to SkinnyCow! I really need to write them a thank you letter for producing "diet" products that taste yummy! They've kept me sane on more than one occassion!
And CONGRATS to you especially, MommaHoffa for making the right choice!

03-01-12, 06:19 PM #8WOW. Yes, I have done this

Big packages of junkfood, 2l of soda, the list is endless It is so very sad that a lovely lady would find comfort in sugar, fat, white flour, seeking solace in a bakery item rather than loving herself with health.
Binging, food addiction, compulsive overeating - this is serious on all levels. Please be kind to yourself!

03-04-12, 12:12 PM #9So? What are we all missing? It's obviously not 'just' about food...
Is it fulfillment? Sense of purpose? Too much spare time?
I know all of those affect me to some extent...even the time issue. I don't have all that much spare time in the grand scheme, but on certain days I do...The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.

03-15-12, 01:54 PM #12Wow, what an image.
What is the most any of you have ever eaten in one sitting?
No one particular instance comes to mind for me, but I know I have many times taken down a pizza plus an indulgent dessert.

03-22-12, 12:59 PM #14I have easily put away 3,000 - 4,000 in fast food. Easily.

03-24-12, 02:30 PM #16sigh, I guess if I'm going to conquer my demons, I have to begin with shining the light on them so they're easier to destroy.
Okay, a recent binge on a solo road trip coming home from an out of town job consisted of:
In-n-Out
double, double: 670
reg cheeseburger: 480
2 orders of fries: 790
1 chocolate shake: 590
then, 100 miles down the road, I swung through sonic and got:
2 corn dogs: 420
So, that binge was only 2,950 calories but I've had similar binges paired with alcohol . . .
It's absolutely a self-destructive behavior. I eat and eat and eat to where I feel sick. It has nothing to do with physical hunger at all. I'm doing some research on this and tracking my behaviour. I may start a thread dealing with some of these issues because from reading many of the blogs here, I am definitely not alone. It's my choice. I can stuff my face with food or I can stuff my life with living.

03-24-12, 02:46 PM #17You should start another topic. You're right...that's nothing at all to do with hunger.
It's not hard to pack away calories with stress eating either.
I can't think of a specific example of anything I've done in the past, but can give you an approximate stress eating day:
B: 6 slices of raisin toast with butter: 6X 140 = 840 + butter = 1000
L: Soup and 2 sandwiches: 300, 280 and 320 for filling = 900
Snack: Row of 10 cookies (from a bag) at 100 calories each = 1000
D: Steak, potatoes and salad: 1000
Dessert: 2 pasteries: 700
...and add a couple of other things I may have 'tasted' along the way...or a drink, etc.
Total for an 'average' day: almost 5000The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.
